correct, but bear in mind 2 important things

1. microsoft discontinued the xb360 in Q3FY16, aka last quarter
2. microsoft numbers as sold in, aka sold to retailers. Right now, they clear stock for the old Xbox One, because the new Xbox One S will launch in this Quarter July - September. Low numbers are expected

Is that official?

And has Sony done the same with the PS3 already?

yes it is official. http://news.xbox.com/2016/04/20/xbox-360-celebrating-10-years/
and yes sony did that, too. they just never announced it "offical" *

*to be fair, they maybe still produce 5k consoles each month, because they still have contracts in place, they can't terminate as of now.
but the last time sony reported ps3 sales was Q1CY15

So we've already had a full fiscal year of Sony without any PS3 numbers? What were the shipment numbers for the final quarter or full year that got reported?

400K... I know,  I have to provide the source but I'm now bored to go to sony's ir site and looking for the pdf and browse the pdf!

Anyway, google that: sony ships 400k ps3 2015, neogaf FY14Q4 SONY financial results thread will appear first!

The 360 was in a similar situation in 2008.

COD phenomenon pushed sales higher later in the year. And Kinect extended it´s life.

I can believe that number without a source. Seems likely that Sony is now doing the same as Microsoft, selling off the remaining stock they have left.

So anyone looking for a new ps3 to last the ages should buy one soon before new off the shelf models are gone?
