Forums - Gaming - Pokémon GO is now the biggest mobile game in U.S. history

I think the biggest thing to note is that Candy Crush on android has over 500 million downloads while Pokemon Go has 10-50 million? So since that is the case, the biggest factor for Pokemon will be consistency and not downloads since downloads are essentially meaningless without a consistent user-base. So I hope their plan to keep players from moving on works cause if it does... $$$

To be fair Candy Crush in on market around 4 years, while Pokemon GO is less than week on market and in most markets still isn't out.

Interesting. Let's see how many of those remain after a month.

Pokemon is far from being dead!!!!!!
Wonderful news!!!!

This is not a news. lol

And where exactly are those games now? That's right, in the garbage dump of apps no one cares about anymore. This "game" is the junk food to the real Pokemon games full course meal and the bubble will pop to reflect as much.

So you can't really compare instal base game that is 4 years on market and instal base of game that is less than week on only smaler numbers of market.

Despite it being huge, we've yet to see the game keep a consistent high bar of results for say a whole year or more. I imagine it will be big for some time but at the same time I also remember how one mobile game gets big, then the bubble pops and that crowd moves onto the next big thing, this is the same crowd that was a part of the Wii group some years back that moved onto mobile gaming once the Wii had it's time in the casual light.

I've still yet to see a mobile game from nearly 7 years ago or more that is still hugely massive, still popular and still breaking massive numbers every year while also refusing to decline, I'm talking insanely huge bars here, not something like Candy Crush, I;m talking a game that's doing the current Go numbers (and beyond) but has been around for nearly a decade and is remembered so very easily like Mario or Pokemon by nearly everyone. I imagine someone here has the answer but it's going to be very specific and something that isn't going to be remembered easily, I mean I can describe Mario to my folks and friends as an example and they'd know who he is and who he's owned by, some random mobile game that had it's time?, not so easy.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

That can be said for any single game really, in any gaming realm, core or casual...WoW is maybe one of the very few that achieved to remain popular for very long, along with Minecraft.

As for mobile/social, those that skyrocket (like Farmville, Angry Birds, Candy Crush) remain there for some time, then inevitably decline...there are titles that have very long life, but they are usually smaller, at least mid-core, have higher than usual (2%) user conversition and/or depend on whales.

already double the users of the previous biggest pokemon game

Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Not in terms of downloads, but daily active users... makes me wonder when the hype will slow down
