I imagine it will be big for some time but at the same time I also remember how one mobile game gets big, then the bubble pops and that crowd moves onto the next big thing, this is the same crowd that was a part of the Wii group some years back that moved onto mobile gaming once the Wii had it's time in the casual light. I've still yet to see a mobile game from nearly 7 years ago or more that is still hugely massive, still popular and still breaking massive numbers every year while also refusing to decline, I'm talking insanely huge bars here, not something like Candy Crush, I;m talking a game that's doing the current Go numbers (and beyond) but has been around for nearly a decade and is remembered so very easily like Mario or Pokemon by nearly everyone. I imagine someone here has the answer but it's going to be very specific and something that isn't going to be remembered easily, I mean I can describe Mario to my folks and friends as an example and they'd know who he is and who he's owned by, some random mobile game that had it's time?, not so easy. |
That can be said for any single game really, in any gaming realm, core or casual...WoW is maybe one of the very few that achieved to remain popular for very long, along with Minecraft.
As for mobile/social, those that skyrocket (like Farmville, Angry Birds, Candy Crush) remain there for some time, then inevitably decline...there are titles that have very long life, but they are usually smaller, at least mid-core, have higher than usual (2%) user conversition and/or depend on whales.
