Game wise I whole heartedly recommend Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE. It uses Japanese that is overall pretty easy to understand and characters just talk a lot. Plus a lot of phrases are repeated a lot, so chances are you're going to pick up on some new words, and it's great listening practice. Touma's one of the only characters I have a heard time understanding because he speaks very rough, but everyone else is pretty understandable.

Show wise, probably any anime will do. Good listening practice.

Going with visual novels could be a good idea. Maybe start with Steins;Gate on the PS3/PSV. It has Japanese dub with English subs.

Bravely Default + Second :)

I'm pretty sure those games don't have an option for Japanese voice acting? I remember being frustrated that I couldn't find that option. >_>

I seriously advise you from learning Japanese through anime

the way they pronounce words is not always how they're not meant to be said.

For example, if a person who speaks Spanish watches a western film, they'll hear people talk in a very western accent. Of course, they may not realize this and pronounce the words exactly how the people in the movie did. It'd make them look very stupid if you were to talk to someone fluent in English.

In all honesty though, I'm sure this is obvious. Unless I'm wrong, I don't remember Japanese people always yelling and stuttering whenever they talk.

Well i'm currently playing Tokyo Mirage Sessions # FE and it turned out to be really good, i would rate it from 8.5 to 9 out of 10 so far. It has Japanese voice acting and English subtitles, so i think it fits your request very well.

Xenoblade Chroniles for wii.
Tales of Zesteria. That's the one I know.

Shenmue 2 (Dreamcast) has tons of Dialog, Xenoblade Chronicles (one of the very best JRPGs ever created), Tokyo Mirage sessions. There are also undub mods for many PS2 games like Persona 3 & 4 and Xenosaga.

Huuuhh, Bravely Second does have one. I even tried it :/

I went back and looked and you're correct. I went to Sound settings and no option was there. It was in the message settings menu.

Still not sure about Default tho.
