Forums - Nintendo - Pokemon GO Be Nintendo's Biggest Success Since Wii? Bigger Than Wii?

Nintendo is a video game company, they make hardware to fit their games.

I don't think a mobile game is a success for Nintendo. Their main business is hardware platforms, not videogames.

And Apple's main business was desktop computers once upon a time. Today it's probably the 4th or 5th largest part of their business. Market changes, things change.

If Nintendo starts becoming incredibly successful as a mobile app maker ... it will change the company, I don't have much doubt about that.

Looks very much like it's going to be a phenomenal success if it isn't one already. Nintendo may very well have a bright future in the mobile games market.

Do be honest games like NSMBU should off been released on Mobiles and have been called NSMBM instead. That sort off game could dominate android/is even if sold for a few quid ( with the odd avvert)

NSMB to me is more of a core game that's easy to get into for casuals though I do think that all of Nintendo's IPs that clearly cater to casuals and don't rely on traditional gamepad controls should make appearances on mobile.  Games like Rhythm Heaven, Brain Age and Nintendogs for example seem built for mobile before mobile became a thing.

I also think the success of these games on mobile is great because it helps make the Nintendo brand relevant again to the average consumer in the west.  Also, if they market the hell out of the NX in those games, that alone would probably amount to more advertising than NOA did for the entirety of the Wii U's life.

Is pretty possible, this game is a complete fever already, they are gonna make tons and tons of money.

They should just port the game onto mobile.

99 cents to unlock the hidden worlds. Get easy cash.

5 lives. One life restores every 10 minutes. Get 1 life every time you beat a level. 10 lives are 99 cents, etc etc

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

They should allow you to transfer the Pokemon you caught to Pokemon Sun/Moon, or transfer your Pokmeon Sun/Moon Pokemon to the app like a Pokewalker type of thing.

Seems like it is doing better than most thought. The game was kind of flying in low under the radar (even though there were some stories about it in the past (mainly about it being delayed)). If they can roll it out worldwide and fix any server issues then this could be a huge success if not already. It would be nice if there was a 3DS version but I suppose you have to have data for maps?

I keep hearing some of you on this forum say 'no one expected this to do well'. I don't know who you mean by 'noone'. Everyone I know who saw the Pokemon GO trailer a while back were incredibly excited about it. and its flipping Pokemon! Pokemon always does well

I think logically they should make it possible to battle people from afar or whatever without having to be at the same gym HOWEVER your idea about transferring Pokemon from other games would ruin the APP. Half of the unique nature of the APP and the overall concept is the fact that you actually have to physically go outside and catch the Pokemon with your phone. transferring from other games would ruin that whole concept

if they had it done properly with normal pokemon gameplay, definitly.
