1. Who is the SRW composer? He might become another favorite of mine...

2. Can you keep Japanese voice-overs but English subs? Japanese voices are great.

3. I noticed in EVERY battle the characters that fight kinda just...talk. Are they programmed to say something based on who they're fighting or is it also dependent on upgrades you have, etc.?

4. I think SRW should have an online mode! Seems like a game it'd fit well in IMO.

1. A lot of songs in SRW are theme songs of the cartoons those robots orininally from.

2. If SRW ever come to NA/PAL, maybe.  Dynasty Warriors: Gundam on PS3 is one example.

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo

Ah, i see it's the first time you saw the weirdness of this game in action. Yeah as a fellow SRW fan i have no clue what to make of the game.

At all.

Never a fan of the OG series. The reason I love SRW so much is because my favorite robots are in the game.

I will stick to the original SRW series until this franchise dies (the day people of "my generation" stop buying games)......

I liked the OG series because I haven't seen nearly enough mecha anime and a lot of the OG personalities are terrific.  Excellen, Kyosuke, Sanger, Masaki...etc, they're all really cool to me.

The songs are almost always great.  If a SRW battle starts and say... Last Impression starts playing, you know to be very very afraid.  ^_^

See I like both... and I play SRPGs more then any other genre... to the point of if it's a SPRG i'm going to buy it so long as i've heard of it.

@WoW

Epic. I hope if I enjoy this one (I probably will) they make one (maybe just the OG saga...) for the Wii.

Also, question. Those vids you posted are battle scenes, right (HP bar, etc.)? They just look like regular cutscenes lol. I don't get it.

If they make a console SRW game (a real one) and localize it for the US/UK... I will own the console it's for.

Period.

Those are battle scenes. Every battle scene in SRW is like a cutscene... just some attacks are flashier than others. Think of it like Fire Emblem, only instead of having 1 attack per character... you have half a dozen or more. ^_^

I wouldn't get your hopes up WoW. GBA game sales worldwide were what? Under 500K? I can't imagine there is a whole lot of incentive to localize these games anymore.

That's why I'm hopin it goes PS3. As this is the one series i'm not above importing. If you end up liking the battle system for an SRPG it's really easy to memorize the couple minor details you need in the spirit special skills.

You do lose the cool story though.

It will come to PS3, but god knows when......

Why not getting the PSP ports? SRW-MX on PSP is excellent except the long loading time. SRW-A remake on PSP will be released in June, I hope they will make it load faster. From the current revealed information, this game looks awesome.

I haven't played SRW-W on DS yet, is it good?

There were PSP ones? I had no clue. Something to look into when i get a slimline one to plug in to the TV.

I haven't played W. I don't have a DS. However I do know it marks the first appearance of Go Lion! Aka Voltron.

So how could it be bad?  Also you can change peoples themes i've heard.

I'm half considering waiting for a good DS emulator to come  out, buy a DS, said SRPGs and then emulate them on my computer.

I know, weird but I don't like piracy.  If the DS had some non wacky plug into your TV interface it'd be easier.

I've played quite a few myself now, but perhaps you've played a bit more of them than I have...  Are there any that you'd recommend other than the usual lot?

Not that i can think of really, you didn't like Tactics Ogre and most games follow that.

I just picked up Soul Nomad and the World Devourers, that seems like a good game.  It mixed the Ogre battle and Disgaea styles into a game where you play like disgaea but each unit is actually a squad of guys who make one attack Ogrebattle style based on placement.  Though some characters get special ranged attacks.

Gladius I really liked, and is cheap for the gamecube, Xbox and PS2... though there can be balancing issues do to the dumb AI.  Summoners destroy everuone, and there are some events only Women can compete in... and no Bonus being a man, so recruiting any male gladiators is a waste of time.

Future Tactics you can find for REAL cheap I imagine, last time I was in a Toys R US I saw it for like... 4.95.  In that game the characters suck but it's worth playing for how it's executed.  You move in a turn based, like ring format, where you can jump around and try to get on the top of objects... can shoot, while aiming, then duck behind cover.  It's a great fresh take that would be better if the rest of the game didn't suck... also a cover system, since it seems cheap what you can do at times.

Front Mission 3 is a favorite of mine.  4 Just doesn't hold the same candle.

I once played an emulated translated Bahamut lagoon at a friends house that had an amazing story, and again Ogre battle meets turn based SRPG style.

Other then that they're mostly derivitive... trying to be Final Fantasy tactics... who was just trying to be Tactics Ogre in the first place.  Of course that doesn't matter to me because SRPGs are to me what FPS are to most americans apparently.

I just noticed the cowboy had the last name Browning. That rules out my kids theory. Must just be a gender switching alternate universe.

He's also apparently American. Due to the last name being... well last. Guess i should say surname.

The thing about the FFT-style games is that I don't mind them that much.  It's just that I found FFT itself to be rather boring.  The characters were uninteresting/unremarkable and the plot was one big "meh."  The jobs were so-so and the battles were okay, but the storyline just didn't have any momentum.  I didn't care about a single character by the end of the game.  The end itself was a "meh" too.  It wasn't a "OMG that final battle was awesome!" rather it was more along the lines of "Oh, that was the final battle? Whatever."

Gladius I may check out.  I find myself trying a lot of older GC games thanks to the Wii's BC.

Bahamut Lagoon looks really good so I may have a look at that too.

Thanks Kasz.

Oh my god, I am going to it for sure.
