Even the regular Gespents have there uses. If you upgrade your favorites you can never go wrong.

Not to mention that the pilot really makes the mech.

That's another fun thing to do if you really like the series. Swap out a lot of the pilots with each other.

Espiecally with Excellen.

The OG character personalites are golden.

I used to have a low opinion of the Gespenst (base SRW:OG mechs), until I realized Katina's power in one. The Jet Magnum is pretty powerful and though has a will/morale requirement, it also has a really low EN consumption rate. Once Katina gains Drive, she can instantly fulfill the will/morale requirement and she suddenly has a very powerful weapon at her disposal that she can use every turn without fail. Give the Gespenst a Tesla Drive to make it fly and it becomes even nastier.

Excellen is great. Here's a quote from a Wiki I like (that I eventually want to see in-game):

When using the Giganscudo's Sheath Thunder attack, Excellen quotes Back to the Future by saying: "1.21 Gigawatts? Great Scott!"

True, though i kinda like the planes more.  Upgrade the mobility and give it an evasive pilot and even a lot of the later bosses will have near zero chance of hitting it... yet they'll still try because it has such low HPs.

Hey Kas, I think we should make a SRW:OG/OG2 thread.  We're cluttering this one up with non-OG Saga stuff.  ^_^

Any new SRW thread would be overlooked =/ Did you see the hits on this thread? Over 50 posts and it had only 200 some hits. Now near 400 now it's more active. Only me, you (WoW), and Kasz have kept this alive. Some naznatips too.

But I won't stop you :P

The problem is that OG Saga will be different from other SRW games so most of which Kas and I talk about won't be what Saga will be like sadly...

1. Who is the SRW composer? He might become another favorite of mine...

2. Can you keep Japanese voice-overs but English subs? Japanese voices are great.

3. I noticed in EVERY battle the characters that fight kinda just...talk. Are they programmed to say something based on who they're fighting or is it also dependent on upgrades you have, etc.?

4. I think SRW should have an online mode! Seems like a game it'd fit well in IMO.

1. No clue.

2. No clue.  The gameboy versions that got translated didn't have voices.

3. Some of both. It depends on what weapons you use and what mechs your in, and sometimes they do say special things based on the characters they're facing if they have ties to said characters.

4. It'd be interesting, though I could see it taking a while to get to a full on fight while people position or race for the best terrain and then just sit there.

Me i'd just kill for the "Free Mode" which lets you set up the sides. Of course i used to do that like crazy in tactics Ogre, setting half my team vs the other half. (with both sides set to CPU.)

I could probably create some awesome 2-3 way battles with a free mode. I may have to mod my PS2 or get a japanese PS2 just to order OG saga gaiden.

Oh yeah, online would still be a bonus even if didn't work out perfectly... just to have it you know?

You'd probably need to throw in some objective based modes though.

Ones I can think of...

King of the Hill, be in control of a certain part of the map after a certain amount of turns.

Prevent Entry, both sides try and prevent the other team to reach a certain area on the map.

"Shock the edges"... third party mechs spawn on the outside, getting stronger and stronger.

Really though i suppose it wouldn't be too bad with abilties like Acel and Focus being able to get the jump on the big ranged threats. Just put a bunch of boosters on a melee team.

A coop mode/battle would be really fun too.

Gimme a Rein Weiss Ritter, at least 7 levels of gunfight, Hit & Away, SP/EN Regenerate, and maybe a custom CPU and I'm set for the entire battle.  ^_^

That WOULD be fun.  Of course i'm always a fan of being a smaller peice in a bigger puzzle.  I'd even love a mode where you play the game normally and just control one unit.

I'd probably go with the R-Blade myself just to stay true with what i like... stick some agility modfieers on it, get SP Regenerate and a good dodging pilot like Latooni then Focus spam.

Also, my favorite quote...

After Dygenguard Episode 30 flashed on the screen

Viagi - What was that!? And what does Episode 30 Mean?

Hah!  I remember that.  That happened maybe 3 times in OG2 where someone noticed a part of the game and did a WTF.

I'm sorry though.  Excellen is the source of all the best quotes in SRW.
