Forums - Gaming - The longest working console you've ever owned

All my consoles work except for 7th gen consoles.

So oldest is NES or Atari 5200. 26+ years for sure.

My oldest console is the GameCube, but I don't use it anymore since the Wii can play GameCube games

My oldest-and-still-in-use console is the Nintendo DS.. I've played on this system for a long time and still do, and it still works, though then again, all consoles I have still work :p

I wonder if VGC is paying you to make threads :P

I donate most of my consoles when I stop using them. Typically find families who wouldn't mind having something for their kids to use. Probably gonna save my Wii U+3DS though. Too good to give away.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

Sega Dreamcast that I've had since 2004.

I still have an NES that works, although I didn't own it the entire time since my dad's friend gave it to me, but the console that I've owned the entire time that is still working is my N64.

My N64 I've had since (I think) 1998 is still working fine.

Ok.. so i can conclude that:
1. Consoles that use game cartridge have extremely long life span.
2. Consoles that use optical laser have short life span ( 5 - 10 years )

It's time to bring back cartridges to next-gen consoles then :)

My 2008 Xbox 360.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Thing is, many users had cartridge consoles as their first dedicated video game systems, at least the ones that had replied to this thread so far.

My SNES is still going strong. Still play it a few times a year. Hell, it's probably my favorite console to this day. I even have a back up SNES Jr
