Forums - General Discussion - 80 killed, 160 injured in Baghdad market area bombing

There were ongoing disarmament procedures on co-operation with the UN to remove Iraq's WMD's, and it would've likely been over within a few months if the US hadn't gone and fucked everything up. The UN representatives said that while the Iraqi government cooperated fully, they didn't always cooperate immeadiately. This was what ticked the US off, and while they did manage to convince the security council that this broke some rules, they did not manage to convince the security council that it was significant enough to take action. Because it FUCKING WASN'T. But the US went rogue and invaded the country anyway, and now everything has gone to shits. G frikkin G.

Christsake! Really sick and tired of having to worry where the next attack will be. Hoping these people are ok, and I really hope we start seeing ACTUAL progress in destroying ISIS.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

You're both correct in certain ways. Although I felt strongly that the mere presence of 'WMDs' was a shaky/nebulous reason to make the GARGANTUAN kind of step like invasion/occupation. Saddam was a stabilizing influence on the region. Yes, he was a terrible person, and I really feel bad for how the Kurdish people have been treated all the way back to Churchill's era and even before. But in 2002-2003, was Iraq really worth targeting? To be blatantly honest, Pakistan, Sudan, and Syria ALL had either WMDs/Radical Terrorists, or both, to a degree that the relatively stable borders of Iraq didn't compare to.

OIL....

Bush wanted to secure cheap oil.

Thats the real reason behinde the war. These security reports about WMD was just the Lie told to get the other countries onboard with it.

They didnt find any WMD, all they found was a few canistars of mustard gas.

He had no way to attack europe, or the US, or any plans to do so.

He didnt have any nukes.

It was one big lie, to get cheap oil.

^^ I've looked into that, and it doesn't add up. For one, oil didn't become cheap. We didn't get cheap oil to be honest until the 2008 market crash resulted in the vampiric presence of the oil speculators fleeing the market, which revealed the true S&D driven price of oil. This was exhibited in ~$1.80ish gas at the pumps, and the terrible meme that GWB gave us cheap gas, when in fact that was just the economy in flames on his exit, lol.

Cui Bono indeed, and the best I can find is :

Big no-bid contracts to close administration benefactors

and

HIGHER priced oil, which vastly enriched some very powerful people

Think about it, what good does cheap oil do someone like GWB&Co? Nothing. Expensive oil, or predictably rising price oil? Now that's a different story.

You seem an intelligent and interested person, so read this and let me know your thoughts :

Too much, this is just TOO MUCH. Don't even ask, it was Isis. Just bomb them off the freakin' map. I'm not even the type of person who promotes war but this needs to be done. Hitler didn't stop on good will. This has to end.

at least 125 dead.

Saddam was going to make a powerful WMD that George W Bush was very afraid of. It was the Gold Dinar, a single African currency made from gold. Gaddafi wanted to do this too, and look what happened to him. It would've strengthened the whole continent of Africa.

The westerners elitist thinking they are all that and creating problems in in the middle east and adjacent areas. And these psychos who call themselves Muslims kill more actual Muslims then anyone else. They and the USA should be put on trial for illegal wars and many civilians killed in the region. Also the UK is accountable as well. In a fair UN, that would happen but UN is rigged against smaller countries

Just a guy who doesn't want to be bored. Also

how can you call it a lie, when it is a varifiable fact that sadam had and used WMDs, and the we later found and confiscated WMDs. cognative dissonance much?

This?

"After the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, Mr. Bush insisted that Mr. Hussein was hiding an active weapons of mass destruction program, in defiance of international will and at the world’s risk. United Nations inspectors said they could not find evidence for these claims.

Then, during the long occupation, American troops began encountering old chemical munitions in hidden caches and roadside bombs. Typically 155-millimeter artillery shells or 122-millimeter rockets, they were remnants of an arms program Iraq had rushed into production in the 1980s during the Iran-Iraq war.

All had been manufactured before 1991, participants said. Filthy, rusty or corroded, a large fraction of them could not be readily identified as chemical weapons at all. Some were empty, though many of them still contained potent mustard agent or residual sarin. Most could not have been used as designed, and when they ruptured dispersed the chemical agents over a limited area, according to those who collected the majority of them.

In case after case, participants said, analysis of these warheads and shells reaffirmed intelligence failures. First, the American government did not find what it had been looking for at the war’s outset, then it failed to prepare its troops and medical corps for the aged weapons it did find.

Participants in the chemical weapons discoveries said the United States suppressed knowledge of finds for multiple reasons, including that the government bristled at further acknowledgment it had been wrong."

There were some relics of the past there. But that's not what the premise for the war was based on.

Thank you. I'll take the ban that may be coming, because although I'm restraining myself, I don't feel like being civil.  I hope you shut that person right the fuck up. It's cringe worthy, it is, some of the things that people believe.
