Forums - Nintendo - Shooting Themselves In The Foot Again

Nintendo is changing. They're preparing for NX and its pre and post launch. Marketing needs to be on point like it was with Wii and DS, if that requires them to dissolve the position then so be it. This is honestly the least of their worries at the moment, they still have to regain trust while bridging new trust with potential customers. Shooting themselves in the foot? Hardly so I'm afraid.

Nintendo has a right to vigorously defend their IP and they should. With the upcoming NES book that just got a copyright claim, they're taking picture perfect authentic Nintendo artwork and using it in the book without proper citation, now they're getting everything ironed out.

As for splatoon, it had to end eventually. Wii U is on its way out, Scott Moffit said what he said for a reason. I'm sure Nintendo is working on a sequel for NX in some capacity. Especially for a game that has sold almost 4.5 Million units on an install base of 14 Million. They have to work on Splatoon 2 I guess.

There are no vital signs coming from Nintendo at the moment. We still have to wait for NX to be unveiled an received in whatever presentation they have planned. If it isn't received well, Nintendo would be in panic mode I'd assume, but not just yet.

Saw the thread title and wanted to write: It could have been avoided if the foot had a gun.
Then I realised.. this thread is about Nintendo...

He had bad results for the entire gen. Marketing has been a mess since Cammie left.

Whether it was just bad luck or actual inability, the guy didn't seem to be working out in the position. Like someone else said, I'm actually more confident with a team having equal input rather than one person being able to override a decision on a whim.

Considering this guy has had the position for the past 5 years which have been their worst as marketing goes this isn't much of an issue especially as the task has been given to someone else.

Exactly.  I'd have fired him years ago considering how big of a hit the Nintendo brand has taken in the west during his tenure.  And if people say that he wasn't the only person responsible for that, then I'd say that more than one person should have been fired at NOA.

I'm surprised it took this long.

Now bring back Cammie.

If I recall correctly isn't Bill Trinen in charge of all Marketing for NoA?

"I think it will be the HDS"-Me in regards to Nintendo's next handheld.

The only concern I have is that they were actually paying somebody to direct all the marketing they haven't done in years...

Have a nice day...

Reggie can troll US Ninty gamers in the most shameless ways and they still love him, that job should be his exclusive.

No, that was Scott. Cammie Dunaway had the EVP of Sales and Marketing title before him. I think Bill is a layer below them.
