" with those tasks moved to existing staff" Seems okay to me. The more people involved, the higher the chance they won't screw up because of any individual's whim.

You do understand this is Nintendo tightening their belt and getting rid of redudant positions. Why pay somebody a high six figure salary when you get delegate their tasks to people that get paid much less. I doubt it will even have any tanginble impact on their marketing. If anything it just frees up more money for other purposes including possibly marketing.

Considering this guy has had the position for the past 5 years which have been their worst as marketing goes this isn't much of an issue especially as the task has been given to someone else.

Disolving the position of marketing executive?! Are you freaking kidding me Nintendo?! God, with killing Splatfest, and yet more DMCA bullshit, it's like everyday the company's becoming increasingly clueless!

Without an executive in charge of marketing Nintendo is gonna be even more screwed than they have been since 2013!

.....At least that's what it looks like to me.

cause the marketing for the wii u was great!!, this is good actually.

chill out ;)

Wow, Internet is gold when it comes down to dumb overreactions. They have fired a guy you didn't even knew exists until now and the leader of a department that has been doing a pretty horrible job for the last generation and somehow that is something terrible that combined with the end of splatfests (lol) means Nintendo is basically doomed.

Changing what wasn't working is good. Not bad.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

But are you sure? Has such a method really worked that well for other companies?

Yes, fewer hierarchial structures have worked in other companies. I won't go as far as to say they always work, but they definitely can. Nintendo has a problem with top-down decision making. More people at the bottom deciding things can bring them more in touch with the population.

That's interesting and very curious timing when you're about to launch a new console. I guess they just don't want to offer the pay that comes with that position. Still, if there was a time you wanted someone leading your marketing team, it would be now. Probably going to have more big decisions made by upper executives, with the marketing team doing the grunt work.

Usually when you see something like this, it's because someone higher up wants more control.

Of course, we won't know if it will have a negative effect until a year or two from now.
