Forums - Gaming - Leave name brand on the table: What is up with the lack of popularity for the JUST CAUSE series vs other open world games?

I am in love with series. I recently just picked up Just Cause 3 while it was on E3 sale and I can barely put it down and when I do that urge to blow something up creeps up with the next 15-20mins. I consider JC to be my favorite open world game, but not many people agree with me ... or even bought the game for that matter. Looking at sales history,  this series pretty mediocre when compared to other open world games..like GTA, Batman, ext. The second game only did about 3.5mill and the 3rd currently sits at 2.70mill.

Now I know that name brand is important but could there be something else? Is it not doing something right?

I like the games but it's hard for me to explain why it's not as good as other open worlds. It feels really destructive and the way you do missions there's not much option to complete them except for destroying this or kill this etc. that might be a weird explanation but I cant really put it into words why other open worlds are better.

Xxain asking this question lol. Sup?, anyway, 3.5m isn't bad, and neither is, 2.7m this early in it's release. It could reach 4million or more by yrs end, and stretch to 5.5 too 6m lifetime. I didn't know the sales for the previous one was so low, but the 3rd soul reach 4-6m

I think what the game needs is a really good story. Or at the very least a character that you can give a damn about. Other than that its just a soulless destruction sandbox. Like mercenaries of the PS2 era (not even sure thats the name of the game).

But thats the point, its forgettable. A good story would fix that. Awesome game though.

It was fun for a while but it didn't go anywhere. Once I had flown, driven, sailed over most of the map it got boring. Go destroy more to unlock the next Go destroy more objective, not my thing.

Probably because it doesn't have the variety and longevity of any other open world game. Big world with nothing else to do in but shooting stuff. Just read any review of the most recent Just Cause.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I found Sleeping Dogs better, and it is even less popular.

Poor gameplay mechanics. Simple as that. Basic shooting was just not fun.

Maybe the world is a little too accessible. You can go everywhere and do everything without very much resistance.
It is maybe too big also. It is hard to fill such a big world with interesting things.
I have not bought JC3 yet but I will - for the wingsuit alone.

Couldn't agree more. I enjoyed that game so much.

Can't believe it only got 1/25 of GTA V's sales. For me it was more enjoyable. I'd like a sequel :D
