Don't think they'll leave gaming tbh but after E3 I can see a reduced focus on the consoles for their approach to gaming.

I disagree with the OP as well. I don't think Microsoft will exit gaming, but even now we are seeing where you don't need an Xbox to play the games on it. So, now its up to Microsoft to prove that it wants its console to be seen as something special. Its funny because a lot of gamers have a PC/PS4 setup. It looks like this will become the defacto standard. And it might be benificial to Microsoft to cut the costs of hardware manufacturing while doubling up on software sales. |
Not sure why people believe the majority of cosole gamers own gaming PCs that MS initiative for putting their games on PC is really a big factor. So you can play MS published games on the PC, purchasing the digital copy, through the MS store.
Personally I do not see a lot of console gamers also sporting a gaming PC hooked up to their HDTV. I highly doubt this will spur a lot of people to upgrade to Win10, to play MS games on their PC and not purchase an Xbox. Either way, I am very interested to see the full scope of MS plans for their ecosystem and how they play out their strategy. It seems they are not playing the same game Sony is playing and leveraging their other systems.

This pretty much. I dont understand why people put so much into the exclusives when its clear they are not even the biggest selling games. You can bet your ass more people got a PS4/XB1 for CoD/GTA5/Fifa etc then for Uncharted 4 or Halo 5. Even if all Exclusives where on PC the console versions would still sell better since console/=/PC. |
Most of the people who buy CoD/GTA5/Fifa buy nothing else, they arent really spending much money on the ecosystem or video games in genral, thats why they dont matter. But if you have exclsuives you have a higher chance getting consumers who are more invested into gaming.
And you need to have people to buy these consoles in the first in order for the mass market to jump over dueto their friends playing on x and y system. If Exclsuives wouldnt matter you wouldnt see both Sony and MS still doing them.

No, that's them continuing to close the gap on PC and console gaming. MS's competitors have no incentive to do the same.

X1 S will become the budget option, it will probably be $249 when the Scorpio launches. The Scorpio is really powerful, will probably be $399.
I'm curious to see if PS4 Neo replaces the OG PS4. Or will they coexist as well.

Gap? If you are referring to performance, then the gap can't be closed. Why chase something which gets wider, Scorpio will be a mid range by 2017 and not exactly powerful by 2018. Nvidia/AMD will release substantial power increases on a yearly basis, time to stop trying to be something your not.

Heh, no. That's not the gap I'm referring to.
I'm referring to consoles becoming more like PCs with every console generation. Bringing Windows and Xbox together doesn't take MS out of gaming, it brings their games to a bigger audience. Its a direction I'm happy to see them go.
