Atlus will release Caligula, FuRyu and Aquria’s PS Vita RPG due out in Japan on June 23, in both North America and Europe as a digital-only title next spring.

The localized release will retain the original Japanese audio.

Caligula is set in the virtual reality world of “Mobius,” created by the vocal software “μ,” where nine men and women aim to return to the real world.

Further details about the localization were not announced.

If you missed it, catch the most recent trailer here. There are also gameplay videos showcasing the game’s battle systemNPCs, and story dialogue.

Given how scattered the sales would be for a title like this even if people buy it digitally at 1/4 the retail price it would still end up earning them better profits than trying to gauge sales of it in different regions with shops simply not ordering in copies of it because of it being a Vita title.

That said, looks pretty cool, regular Atlus stuff, I was against the Jap Audio aspect to some of the ported games over here, but on playing through Cyber Sleuth I think leaving in the Jap voices actually added a lot more because text edited is one thing, but the tone of voice being retained from the original really showed what characters were designed to be protraiting, (being ditsy or serious and stern).

Still though, western ports of Vita games within a few months of their JP release, woot!

Thing is, Atlus only have to deal with one region - North America.  They never put out games physically in Europe and can easily just stick it up on PSN like they did with Conception 2.  They don't have to deal with Asia if they didn't want either.

I'd say "I guess they think the Vita retail market in NA will have disappeared by 2017" but companies like Gaijinworks, NISA & XSEED are putting faith in it, which seems a bit weird.

Aye for me as an Irish Vita enthusiast I'm just happy with any offerings the system gets now, I'm not going to turn my nose up to a new game if it happens to be digitally only nor am I going to suggest companies need to spend more money than they need to porting games to my system of choice. If that makes sense?

I guess, "beggers can't be choosers" would be the best way to explain my stance on Vita getting games at all now :)

I have about 50 games for PSVita, most retail, and I have supported the system for a long time and still look forward to some titles but it has been made very clear that most games are digital only, my memory card is full and new once are way to expensive and sony just puts 0 effort in the vita.

Lets hope Nintendo announces a new handheld at some point, but back to the point here YES i am happy its getting a release at all because this is an exclusive that looks very good, maybe one of the last will get on the system, I was so happy with Freedom Wars even tough it wasn't dubbed, lets hope this is the same.

I am just addicted to the little VITA boxes btw ^_^ will miss the retail releases!

UPDATE: on twitter limited run games (who have released vita games) are very interested to do a limited physical run of this game

I'm not sure how many I have... eeer... it seems Half that amount retail! That said Between PSV, PSP and PSone games bought from PSN for it I have easily well over 150 titles more digitally, my PSVITA apps folder on my PC is over 100GB of games backed up for easy access, I just buy the games for it regardless of their format.

Added bonus in our household too, my partner has a Vita and we have a PSTV all of which are linked to the same psn account, so if either of us likes a game we buy it digitally and we get 3 copies of it to play co-op with each other, or in monster hunter Unites case we were able to play it 4 player with just one other person using my PSPgo and the other 3 of us using a single digital version which we bought.

I love that collection !

And did Atlus localize this because of its similarity to Persona ? Also this isn't a day one for me, unless if priced at 29.99€.
