Nintendo should just go third party imo.
They can't produce good hardware anymore nowadays. They would make much more profit as a third party developer.

If the new "gimmick" of the NX goes more the way of the Wii U than the Wii ... you may get your wish in 3-4 years.

Either that or maaaaaybe going 2nd party for Microsoft if Microsoft offered a shit-ton of money.

That's laughable. More so since a region were Nintendo is really the only main player in the console space (Japan) is buying Xbox Ones at a rate of about 50 a week. Nintendo aren't so dumb as to partner up with someone that won't benefit them.

Not what I mean. Aonuma said since the first trailer that because the new tech in the Wii U, BotW was possible, because before it they had to put a lot of boundaries in the world.

On top of that, Nintendo can deliver even better games using better tech. They clearly use it in more ways than making it prettier games.

See above. This game would have never been possible on the Wii.

You kind of prove Reggie's point as he's basically saying they'll focus on a range that is functional and not over the top.

That's exactly the problem. As long they consulted their own teams on how much is that range everything is going to be good. But if not, we are going to see another underpowered gen, even for Nintendo own devs.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Makes sense. Nintendo cant compete with Sony and MS when it comes to power, so they need to go the Wii route. It might suck for us, but its probably the best thing to do. Even if Nintendo made a more powerful system than the other two, there would still be many problems they would need to address for any core MS or Sony fan to consider buying one. Its probably not worth it at this point. They have their fans and maybe they can get some casuals as well.

Personally for Nintendo games, I'd be OK with 1 TFLOP or so. Even though it's disappointing performance for 2017 (lol Nintendo), it'd be able to run a game like Zelda: BoTW at a rock solid 1080P with 3x-4x greater graphical fidelity.

I mean for the games Nintendo likes to make ... at least for their own stuff, likely they won't even able to make many games that use even that much horsepower.

Nintendo is never going to greenlight a Metroid game that would have like a $50+ million dollar budget anyway.

Their cartoony franchises which is like 90% of their roster like Mario, Kirby, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Pokemon, Pikmin, Mario Kart, Mario Party, Splatoon, Animal Crossing, etc. will look great even at 1 TFLOP.

That's probably a plus for Nintendo, since they can pick up the slack in Japan, US/UK are their weakest markets, which are the strongest markets for MS.

Something hovering around PS4 and XB1 and I'm happy. What I want out of Nintendo more than anything else is consolidating their software output to one single platform instead of three.

They kind of have to have their own range, MS and Sony will always win the hardware battle being the larger companies. They can't put out a 7 Teraflop platform unless you and a large enough amount of people are willing to pay 500-600 quid for it, power isn't going to bring third parties back either as the are other factors that impact it.

It would be far better for them to come up with what they deem a functional range and have a unified library.

That fact actually makes it less laughable. Imagine Nintendo joins forces with M$ and the Xbox gets re-branded as a Nintendo console in japan.

I will never understand comments like these, THE BEST THING TO DO is the thing that is good for the nintendo users. You are basicly saying they dont care about whats better for the fans and you are ok about it because what mathers is nintendo.

I am a Nintendo fan and I dont want them to leave the console business. If that means they have to give us great games that doesnt look as good as their competitors, then so be it.

Yeah I'm in the same boat tbh, other companies create great games and I'll settle for them providing technical marvels while Nintendo can continue bringing games like BOTW. There's no way to compete with MS and Sony in a hardware brawl.
