Forums - Gaming - People interested on PS4Neo, would you mind Scorpio being more powerful than Neo?

Would it affect what upgraded console you buy you buy? Opt for Scorpio instead if it is more powerful than Neo?

Would a weaker Neo than Scorpio make you stick to the current PS4 console, if you already have one?

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Not getting either.

The only reason I am thinking of getting the Neo is cause I want to play the games that are available on the ps4 with better graphics and possibly better or more stable frame-rate... So if ps4 was their only console for the entire generation and MS announced the Scorpio, I would still get a ps4 because games like Horizon aren't available anywhere else...

But... Games on the Scorpio are available for PC and I have a gaming PC so I don't see much of a reason for me to get Scorpio. I buy consoles for their exclusives... Its why I don't have a ps4 but I have a wiiU cause the ps4 atm for me, doesn't have enough exclusives (which interest me) to justify the price. If Sony, MS and Nintendo released their games on PC... I wouldn't even bother thinking about any of the consoles as a purchasing option for me.

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

It wouldn't affect my decision making at all. I'll take the money I would have spent on it to get a GTX1070. Nothing on it I can't play on my PC, afterall.

As a side note, I've realized something in all this: I'll actually get use out of my PC now.

As someone who doesn't care much about graphics, I'm probably buy the regular PS4 if the price drops down, so my answer is "no".

I think i probably wont mind, even more so if Sony release it this year. I am not a fan of MS's range of games (they don't seem particularly innovative or have depth to their game catalogue). So though a stronger console would be good in one part of my brain, I just don't think I can justify it for just 3rd party games. Though I knew quite few people who purchased a PS4 because it was more powerful, but then the cost was right. So it will be very interesting to see if people are really that bothered by power or just want to upgrade at a reasonable price.

The only downside is those people who'll constantly talk about gigaflops and all that jazz, hidden sauce and cloud... so in one mind I hope sony release a more powerful console to shut the expected return of those people who have been quite for a few years now :D

No not at all, just as i dont mind that PC is stronger than PS4 or the Neo and forever will be. I choose my main platform for the exclusives and buy everything else on it too.
And PC and Scorpio might be stronger but there isnt a single game on these platforms yet that has the same graphical fidelity like Uncharted 4, Bloodborne or Driveclub or any other PS4 exclusive. Playing PS4 exclsuives with better performance is more exiting than playing better performing Xbox One games which already can be played on PC with better performance as of now.

I think for a lot of people the enticing thing is that we can play the games that we currently own. Sony has a great library of games and for owners of the system even if Neo is weaker than Scorpio, the improvements to the upcoming and currently owned games justifies the investment.

I have a robust library of 360 and Xbox One games. This is one major reason I am leaning Scorpio because my games and controllers will work with Scorpio and be an improvement with my 4k television.

But if the earlier hardware reviews, price and specs of the NX or Neo are great I would be happy to grab a weaker NX or Neo (if those are the cases) because the unique libraries of either console would justify the price.

I really prefer a 6 Tflops machine over a 4 tf one for 4k gaming. But the thing is I already have a PC and by the time the Scorpio launches, I would be able to grab a 300 graphic card for my high end PC. As XBOX dont have exclusives any more, I wont be losing anything. On the other hand I will need sony for their exclusive great games. Naughty Dog, Quantic Dreams, and now Kojima are heavy weights.

That doesnt mean that I would love if Sony scrap the 4Tf Neo GPU and put a 6 Tf GPU much more suitable for at least 30 fps 4K gaming.

I really can't see myself springing for a minor upgrade in the new PS4 over my current original one. I don't have an xbox1 though, so I may have interest in Scorpio.
