It was also a terrible idea to announce something that is 18 months away. Especially when you just announced a new console an hour before. Fools

Scorpio will be probably $500 or even more, those who pay so much for a console are those who also bought an XBO early. Those who wait for cheaper prices won't care about Scorpio until maybe 2020 so that they won't be like "ohh no I can't buy an XBO now for a good price because Scorpio will have that price as well in 2020 or so..."
That is pretty much the least thing which will harm them because it doesn't affect many people. Except maybe a few who would have bought an XBO S and then also a Scorpio but then everyone would complain how MS didn't mention Scorpio to let people buy an XBO S first. Then people would say "MS tricked you to let you pay twice"
KNowing gaming forums I already know that this would happen and you would get threads with hundreds of repiies with everyone saying how MS is an asshole company who didn't mention Scorpio to get more of your money. This is how gaming forums are, whatever MS does, people will say it was wrong.

Well it was the same last generation felt like only a small part had a HD TV but the adoption rate went fast, 4K TV's are still slowly growing.

I think 4k is held back by price, the lack of shows that even bother with it, and the fact that somehow regular old Bluray hasn't even become the standard medium for films and such yet. Seriously, how absurd it is that we're still paying out the ass for a movie to be on Bluray? These transitions usually take a couple years, but somehow they've managed to maintain it as a borderline luxury item as normal dvds carry on as the mainstay. 4k films, in that context, are one heck of a luxury.
There's just so little media available in 4k and people are still transitioning to 1080p and such. Feels like there's a wider gap here than before, though I like that they're planning ahead... and 10% of americans really have 4k already? That seems exceedingly hard to believe.
Is that how it is? So it won't be running Xbox One games at 60fps? I wonder if NEO will be the same. Bummer if so.

they are really fumbling their message here. ms needs to figure out if they are selling a next gen console or a mid-gen iterative upgrade. right now they are trying to sell it as both. it's confusing.
and if it is a mid-gen iterative upgrade ("no one is left behind") than 6tf is overkill. they are overcompensating from the talk of xbox one being underpowered. they need to remember that talk was fueled by the "..and ps4 is cheaper" part of the argument. scorpio looks too expensive of a console to make iterative upgrades work.

What Phill says is pretty much true. Think about it, current X1 games will not see any benefits beyond a stable frame rate especially if they are sub 1080P. The graphics, resolution and look of those games will not change and your experience with those games also will not change enough to justify the added cost of purchasing the Scorpio. 720P, 900P will pretty much look the same and basically play the same because the frame rate is already locked. If the game is set to run at 30fps it would take a patch to change and that may or may not happen.
Hoping for patches and other stuff for older games is wishful thinking. I believe Phil is trying to make sure people do not purchase the Scorpio thinking it will drastically change their experience with their older games since that might not happen unless they have the TV to gain full optimal experience.
I don't believe him, FPS at the very very least will be more solid, and they can't avoid 3rd party developers to take advantage of the extra power, but he needs to keep selling the budget models of Xbox One.
Tim and The Princes...
You can buy 4K TV's cheaper now but the low end ones don't support UHD HDR color, so they are a complete waste of money. Some of the cheap 4K TV's
only have 8 bit decoders too because streaming sites have still not set the 4K standard. Make sure if you buy a 4K tv it has a 12 bit decoder and HDR support
or you just got burned.

Hey! They got SONY on my amiibo! Wait a minute. Two great gaming tastes that game great together!
