Basically, this is gonna be research for a research essay I'm doing on the culture/society of internet forums.

 So: Why do you post? What draws you to forums? Why VGChartz? Any insights/thoughts you have on the culture of forums in general? Pretty much anything helps, since all I have to do is cite people I interviewed from the group/culture/community I'm researching (in this case forums, VGchartz specifically). 

Since this relates to the website post it under the website discussion and you will get more feed back.

Started off posting to inform poeple about the lies of contrast ratios, Now I guess I post to be part of the conversations and enviroment here. 

Mainly because I'm bored and have nothing better to do.

I do it because it's really the only place I have to talk to people about games. Most of the people I talk to outside of the forum (friends, family, etc) either aren't gamers or aren't hardcore gamers.

I post because I'm good enough, I'm smart enough and doggoneit, people like me. (Old school SNL reference) Edit: OT since its for a project: I post because I like having discussions about topics that interrest me (gaming related). I can do that here, because doing so in public makes me seem like more of a nerd than I might actually be. Also, I like using VGChartz to find people to play online games (the ones my clan are not interested in because they are not FPS's).

No, really, i just find that there are so many people who seem to be of the mindset that because it's an opinion, that they don't need to put any thought into their opinions. In some cases this is even to the point that they seem to actually feel RESTRICTED from thinking about their opinions, like changing their mind is a sign of weakness.  I just want to be able to provide views that other people can look at and say "hey, I can totally see where that's coming from, that makes sense."
