It very obviously means that there might be some a few titles that don't have Neo specific improvements.

Exactly! Please people, think about this...
Come on...even IGN was more sensible and reported that games will work on both systems.
I think he meant that not all games will have an upgraded NEO version - That games will look and perform the same on the NEO. Having games not work on the NEO doesn't make sense LOL.

Exactly.
This thread is clickbait. Not surprising seeing who created it.
The highlighted part was written by the reporter who probably misunderstood what "Neo mode" means.
Some games will support Neo mode, but others will not. This does not mean that the console won't be able to play the games.
Journalism done wrong or done right, depending of how much attention gameinformer wanted to get our of this article.
I really think it's probably for VR. The existing hardware of the PS4 just seems hopelessly dated for VR given the minimum specs of the Oculus and Hive. Of course, there's also the not-necessarily-coincidental code names of the two, the VR being Morpheus and the new PS4 being Neo (sounds pretty Matrixy to me).
There's probably other motives, but I imagine it's that more than anything. They have a ton of money invested into VR and they're going to do whatever they can to make sure it has a strong launch.

That's what i thought as well. The VR venture cannot be received in a lukewarm fashion, so agressive push for VR games and peripherals will take place after this E3. Current 8th gen hardwares won't be sufficient to create apps deserving of "killer app" title.
