Release a console, support it for 6 years but 3 years into it's lifespan release the next generation. So buying a console as soon as it's launched you're guaranteed 6 years of support but a newer/more powerful version will come 3 years after. That's how I'd like to see it go anyway. Maybe we will see a "PlayStation 5" but I wouldn't mind moving over to incremental updates that act like leapfrog. All currently supported devices running the same OS and recieving the same games, like IOS devices. |
Yeah, I can see this happening too and wouldn't mind it at all, provided one console does still last ~6 years and support for it doesn't become shoddy when the next upgrade arrives.
