Forums - General - Dad defends son(convicted rapist); "it was only 20 minutes of action"

What else are you expecting a father to say???

I have seen far too many interview with criminal parents and they always say how their child is unjustified or when that person dies in a shootout with police how that was a trap by the police

And some people keep saying that we need less punishment ...

I don't want some of these laws going away for what would be considered morally reprehensible actions in first world societies ...

We need less punishment for drug users (should only be treatment not jail time) and more punishment for people that actually hurt people other than their own bodies like rapist, murderers, molesters.  The problem with USA is that our prisons (now mostly private) are overfilled with non violent drug offenders while we let rapist and molesters out early due to the overcrowding.

I was speaking in general and referring mostly about the father's comment (since that's what the topic is really about), but thanks for proving my point of people worried about virtue signaling not considering context.

That dude who raped thar girl is not just a rapist, he's a son, he's someone's little boy in his father's memory, he's loved by his father (all presumably) and has someone that is worried about his future. God forbit his father takes his son's side. No, the son is just a rapist, that's all he ever was and all he will ever be. Throw him outer space, pls. Now give me a pat in the back for how righteous I am, pls.

The fact that you're actually defending a convicted rapist is a little disturbing. And yes, that is what you're doing.

Not only are you miss characterizing him, but even if he were doing that.... There are people's profession who's sole purpose is exactly that. They are a necessity in our system too

Unfortunately the past doesn't matter. Whether if he's a drug dealer or the president of the United States, this was a horrible case that should give him a long prison sentence.

With this logic, bin Laden was much more than a terrorist. He was a great son and leader for many men.

The past does matter. It always has matteres

I have to agree with this sentiment, I doubt his dad would brush it off as only "20 minutes" if it was his daughter, wife or sister as the victim, the shit people say will never cease to amaze me.

That's the thing, though. He is the father of the rapist. Of course he is biased and of course he would feel completely differently had that happened to his daughter. That goes without saying.

Let people think that things don't change depending on which foot the sneeker is for that person opinion.

Never heard of this expression. Nice! (it sounds cooler than the more common one).

A lot of drug users end up doing small crime activity to finance their needs... and in countries where drug is prohibited they contribute to bigger crime.

Well the father will feel better knowing that as his poor son is getting nightly rapings in prison, they won't last more than 20 minutes on average. And the boy will be awake, so at least he can feel the action he is getting...

It's interesting how rapists are raped in prison but murderers are not... murdered.

Bias isn't an excuse for daft statements, the are numerous ways for him to highlight that he supports his son with out making the crime look any less, Chris Brown's dad for example highlighted that the altercation between his son and Rihanna was a regrettable one and that his son was remorseful.
