Forums - Gaming - Censored Persona 5 Box Art (Jpn vs USA)

That probably has to do with wanting to avoid controversy since she's no older than 17/18 and didn't want to be attacked for making younger teens look attractive

But they can be attractive...wait how old am I?? Am I still allowed to say that at my age??

Let's just hope they don't censor the game itself. Atlus censored Tokyo Mirage Sessions quite heavily, but they were supposedly directed to do so by Nintendo. Hopefully that means they won't censor P5.

That's why I would question 5 months of localization just for USA.... not even giving a EU date. What are they going to do?

Goddamit. This is bad news. I'm probably not getting the game because of this censor.

I don't really care but I have to ask, what's the point? I mean seriously, Japanese devs censor some of the most minute details of some of their games.

Well. The ESRB logo is bigger than that Japanese one. I'm sure they just don't want that cat character to get lost behind it. I guess people just see whatever they want to see...

So the trick to censore boobs is to put a pussy in front of them? Naughty naughty art designers.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

So. This is the proof that Atlus did this, which proves the localization changes to TMS was Atlus and not Nintendo telling them to do it. Lmao.

It doesn't affect the game in any way and I don't care but like seriously. Haha

Seems like a silly censor, but then again making such a fuss for something so silly seems also dumb.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

let me see them titties

Personally I really think this was done to prevent the cat's face from being covered by the larger ESRB logo. It would have been silly art direction to allow one of the main characters on the boxart to have half their face obscured by a logo. Besides, they didn't need to move her that much to hide the cleavage, but they did move her enough to mostly get her out of the way of the logo without her covering up too much of the rest of the art. The cleavage was just a casualty

Edit: Also, if you compare the placement of the other characters, they've been moved around a bit as well. Again, probably to accomodate the placement of labels. The original Japanese version might not have even been a finalized design.
