Ya, the draw system was the greatest thing that ever happened! /s

My gripes with it always will actually be disc 2-4's plot.

See, already have it wrong. 'Junction system', Draw was just an ability in the system. I mean, it's no real difference to earning spheres to level up in 10 or having to equip items to learn abilities in 9. The key to the game were the GF abilities, not drawing. If you were sensible you had your GF learn 'convert' abilties first, meaning draw is never used. Items you get from battles are converted to magic and junctioned to a stat to boost it. You had more control over 'roles' in your party than any other FF game because you could create a tank, a healer and a dps, while in many FF games, usually they are interchangeable or doesn't matter.

Yet, I can see the latter, did get a little confusing .... for some. Time travel.

Yes the Junction system, I remember how it works, I just call it draw system, since in general a lot of the heavy lifting early on was draw. It also made you hoard magic for stats, later game I know the abilities are more in play.  Honestly I don't think of 8 that badly, compared to some others final fantasy. I do find it's roster to be weaker than 7 and 9s and its story to be one of the weaker ones.

To be honest FF8 is the one I hoarded magic in the least.

Typically I don't cast any spells (except for boss battles) to save MP just in case I need it later. While if I can draw new magic from every single enemy I meet then I'm much more willing to actually use it.

Really? I abuse MP only if it makes a battle go faster.

Yep, really.

Even when fighting against enemies that resist physical attacks I still refrain from using MP. The amount of times they told me to use magical attacks against Flans in FFX... well screw them, I did it without!

What do you do in Final Fantasy Tactics? Have zero black mages?
