Im in my English class and my teacher decided to do a debate-like activity. Topic? Feminism in america. Knew it wouldn't end well, but I said "whatever". My teacher wanted me to do my best(instead of watching in a corner), so I thought I'd take it seriously.
I chose my respective side- I'm against third wave feminism, and think it's ruined feminism. I was surprised to see that there were several people who shared my opinion(albeit only 1/4 of my entire class). The other 3/4 went on the other side and we had a 2 side debate.
Zoom forward throughout the debate, and we reach me talking about double standards. A girl supporting third wave feminism was crying about how women shouldn't be judged just because their bra or body is showing. I then say:
"Well, women always complaining about clothes, saying their body is only natural. Alright, thats fair. But i then asked a question. Why then do you embarrass men who have visible erections? We don't control when we have erections. Besides, it's NATURAL. Isn't that what you said about women wearing revealing clothes?"
My teacher then butts in and accuses me of being sexist. I then demand him to offer an explanation as to why, and pointed out that it was an obvious double standard. He then writes me up and says that I will be in huge trouble for quote to quote "promoting slut shaming and being misogynistic".
It was then obvious that I was agitated, but I kept my cool. As I'm walking someone from the opposite side goes ahead and says, "see? Men are pigs". I then stop walking and ask my teacher why the person wouldn't get in trouble if what they say is obviously sexist. The teacher then says that it is somehow not sexist in any shape or form.
I then flip out. Completely. While I didn't say anything inappropriate, I did go on a rant on the disgusting treatment third wave feminists give to men and certain women, and how saying anything that criticizes women gets you in trouble. Of course, the feminazis were snickering at me, which caused me to stop. I realized that saying anything won't make a difference. If I laughed, I would have been accused of being a woman hater.
I then leave the room and head to the main office for the Seniors. After a short discussion, they declared that I deserved to be suspended for "promoting misogynistic viewpoints and enforcing ideologies". I got pissed, but I didn't blow my cool. I asked how I was enforcing it if the feminazis accuse people of being sexist if they simply disagree with them. Of course, the staff gave a bullshit reason- apparently since it's women giving the opinion, it's alright if they're a bit rough. For fuck's sake, really?! Letting them call everyone sexists and rapists is alright because they're women? I'm done with this!
I head out of the school and stuck my middle finger out. It's the first time ever I've been suspended, and it's for something I never thought I'd get in trouble for. I'm suspended for 4 days...guess they didn't want me to miss graduation. I'd skip it if it weren't for the fact that I'm going to speak in it.
Thoughts?
