Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo NX Supplemental Computing Device preview?

it is an "in theory" interesting idea. i think the devil is in the details and i need to see how nintendo handles those details before i can get excited or anti-excited about it.

And that is the only rumor I have read. Where are the other two you were talking about?

The first leak (5/14/16) was by SemiAccurate, and it was only with regards to the handheld. (I'm linking the gaf thread because the article is behind a pay wall)

The second (also 5/14/16) was by TweakTown, and it was only with regards to the console.

Emily's confirmation of Nvidia was on 5/16/16, a whole two days later. Before that, she made this post on 5/13/16, where all she would concretely disclaim was that the NX wasn't using x86 architecture or Polaris. Nothing even remotely hinting not using AMD yet. All she added in the new post via NateDrake was verification of her sources and that "Nvidia is involved with Nintendo's future hardware." Which is the rumor that combines the two prior ones, because they were at first independant of one another.

So in chronalogy:

5/13/16 - Emily Posts NX blog claiming no x86/Polaris.

5/14/16 - SemiAccurate leaks Nvidia for NX handheld. (1)

5/14/16 - After SemiAccurate, TweakTown leaks Nvidia for the console, name dropping Tegra and Pascal. (2)

5/16/16 - Two days later, Emily contacts NateDrake, a known and verified industry insider, to both verify her sources and offer a third confirmation of the NX Nvidia rumor. (3)

I see what you did there

This to me makes more sense than a simple cloud scd.

NX will have to have a strong cpu, and so far that is the only reliable leak (LCgeek from gaf who has been accurate in  past leaks http://neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=200144552)  and it may have been improved upon since then.

Polaris 11 with a strong CPU, is 2.5 tf+ to start off and the NX will be very low power consuming = gamecube like in efficiency.  Adding the separate SCD (w/own power supply?) will bump it up to maybe double and above, again depending on the cpu.

Now you have a system that caters to the minimum PS4 requirements, and the mid/upper end as well.

With all intended respect, I haven't the slightest idea what you're talking about.

That is awesome. But the real question for me is if Nintendo is smart enough to make their CPU strong enough to take full advantage of this. Didn't the patent also say that even ram will be improved through this method? Because if that is the case, Nintendo just needs to make sure that NX has a awesome cpu.

Actually the question should first me are Nintendo smart enough to put in a quality USB controller lol. The Wii U one sucks so hard that you can't even power a 2.5inch portable drive properly (even a usb 2.0 one lol)

The NX is now no longer a console, but an external graphics card for laptops?
