Forums - Gaming - The hardest boss you've have ever fought?

Wily 7. It's the closest I've ever come to cracking a controller next to when I DID crack a controller on Wily Stage one's snowboarding section on the broken PS2 version of MM8.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

This guy...

Vergil fight 3 in dmc3 on DWD....which is a fan made difficulty, playing the game from the beginining with out upgrading DT or health on DMD

I'll say Wily in MM7 as well. My first time playing it was on an emulator...and even with save state abuse it was torture. Hats off to all those people who beat it on the original console.

There are lots of bosses in turn-based RPGs that were torture for me when I was younger, but now that I'm patient enough to grind, I can't really mention most of them. I will say though, the secret boss in Bravely Default was an absolute pain. Even with everyone maxed out, I still couldn't beat him. I rarely see people talk about him...so I imagine either I missed some obvious strategy, or everyone just was in a hurry to be done with the game at that point.

Smelter Demon (Dark Souls 2):

Old King Allant (Demon's Souls):

Agree with OP about the Nameless King, although I was able to dispatch him pretty easily on NG+ using the dragonslayer greatshield. He basically becomes impotent against that beast.

Orphan of Kos from Bloodborne.

As a kid, the True Arena Boss battles were impossible.

Now, my hardest boss I've beaten is sans.

Ebrietas in Bloodborne followed closely by Orphan of Kos and Ludwig.

Honestly Ludwig gave me a harder time than Ebrietas but thats mainly because i fought him in New Game Plus 4...

It's weird, a lot of people say that Orphan of Kos was the hardest boss in all of souls/borne (This one youtube series I watch pulled from thousands of votes is the one I'm using as reference), but I didn't find it all that hard.  I mean, it wasn't EASY, very few bosses in this 'franchise' are easy, but it was only maybe a little above average difficulty for me.

If anything, I loved fighting him because it felt like a true boss battle and not a gank.  he jumps around, he's strong, he's fast, he has a bunch of moves, but each one, on their own, is pretty easy to avoid.  I beat him in less than 10 tries.  And yes, I beat him both on vanilla and new game plus.

Man, Bloodborne is one of my all time favorite games.  I love everything about it.  The more I think about it and the more I talk about it the more I love it.  I've played through it like a dozen times now, completing it 100% both on the main game and the DLC.  Memorable bosses, great level design, fantastic lore that isn't needed to enjoy the game but greatly enhances the experience.  Not a perfect game, but damn near to it.  I'm seriously considering putting it in my top ten games of all time, a list that is made up almost entirely of SNES games  and Final Fantasy.

Well the thing about the difficulty of the bosses in the souls games is that it depends on the way we play the game, from the build we are using, to our strategies when fighting them our reflexes etc... so its no surprise that sometimes some people will find some bosses easier when the majority had a really though time with them, for example i had a normal experience with Bloodstarved beast but i know some people who SUFFERED on that bossfight.

So yeah there is never gonna be a boss that everyone considers the hardest one, BUT we will at least have one that the majority found to be the hardest and thats fine to me, Orphan of Kos wasnt the hardest one for me but if the majority thinks thats the hardest one then i have no problem with that and i can see why it would be considered that.

Also put Bloodborne in your top 10, you know it deserves a spot :P

I still can't believe I did it without save states when I think about it sometimes. MM&B GBA wasn't even bad compared to that.

Oh man, I don't even know where to start, but I will go with Alma from Ninja Gaiden. It's a good pick. Trust me.
