I've been playing Smite on ps4 for months now, almost 200+ hours on it

Addictive as hell, stay away from it

lol

I like League. I tried Dota but holy crap was it slow paced (compared to League)

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

I've played a decent amount of Dota 2, and from my impressions from that game, it's crazy fun, but requires a lot of time investment for you to truly get into MOBAs.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Not my taste in gaming, but I can see the appeal to others.

Ive done the Dota thing, played League, played Heroes of the Storm, just cannot get into MOBAs at all (and I loved Warcraft 3).

That said, Im enjoying every second of Overwatch right now and in no way can I consider it a MOBA.

When they first came out my cousin tried so hard to get me into those type of games and I told him he was stupid and the games sounds stupid. Watching videos it looked stupid. Then I saw the Smite game being given away online on this reddit I go to for PS4 deals. Played it and was actually pretty impressed with how fun it was but that was arena mode only. Then I played Paragon and it only allows Conquest mode I played that and really liked it the strategy involved it was really fun. Started playing with my cousin as well who reminded me that he tried to get me into MOBAs before.

Ended up going back to Smite only because Paragon has PC users as well as PS4 players and I'm not trying to go against PC players. The mouse gives them an advantage and I was looking into getting competitive with ranked matches.

Isn't it that most MOBA's if not all rewards you at the end though? Like coins and such which you can use to buy skins, announcers, backgrounds, pets, etc. I know in dota 2 you can get items for your characters if you're lucky at the end of a match(can't remember what else).

I don't care about any of that stuff though. I want to see my characters level go up. My stats go up. Replace my old gear with newer more powerful gear. Ya know, the basic things you do in RPGs.

You might like Paragon then because you do collect cards and cards are used as equipment basically.

Have you ever played a physical sport? You don't have a skill bar there, telling you how much you improve. But you can feel that you are progressing and getting better.

I'm not so sure about that. Never feels like I'm actually getting better

Besides, depending on the sport it's likely naturally more fun than most games anyway so I don't really need any tangible progress anyway.

That's your problem cus you're hardly core

I played a lot of LoL and enjoyed it despite the horrible community. DotA 2 was too slow and not as appealing visually to me as LoL or had the same charm to me. I have played a bit of Paragon and enjoy it, and think it takes the top-down MOBA formula and makes it 3rd person perfectly. But I am just not into these types of games anymore.

Overwatch is fantastic and NOT a MOBA. It is just a more modern TF2 and I love it for it.

I was in the Gigantic beta as well and it plays out more like a bridge between a full on MOBA and what Overwatch is. Sucks the game is having developer issues.
