Forums - Nintendo - Digitimes: Nintendo NX production postponed to early 2017 to add VR functionality

Hmmmmmmm somehow I doubt this is true.First because they were wrong once about the whole NX launch and shipment. Now they are already saying it is different. And now they hold up the whole launch just for VR?What, Nintendo decided to develop their own VR tech in 1 year or so?If not, they would have to be pretty powerful to run other VR headsets with their own hardware.I dont know, this seems wrong.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

It's Nintendo, to me this is more probable than all other rumors.

Not sure what exactly the mobile hybrid part ment, but it sounds bad. Delaying the system for VR makes it sound like VR would be mandatory and not an optional add on, the only thing it ever should be. If all that's true, it makes my decision of what console to get next year between NX and PS4 easy. Definitely hoping this rumor is just more lies!

that's what I'm always asking myself too when a new rumour pops up. I also trust Liam Roberts, or what's his name, as he's been quite accurate before and has dug up lost games and what went wrong with them

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

This is the same source that said that the NX would be out now with tens of millions shipped. Its extremely hit and miss with the predictions it does for other companies also. They love to predict Apple is going to do this or that, and most of them don't turn out, and the ones that do most of us could have predicted. (i.e. they are going to announce a new iPhone with a new OS)

Kimishima said to Nintendo investors that NX would launch in March 2017 to allow them to get a better software lineup, and I see no reason to believe this Digitimes rumor more than what Nintendo's president said.

Also, unless they are making drastic changes to the NX, like changing the internal hardware, I see no reason why Nintendo would have to delay the machine six months to add VR. Most headsets (the Rift and Vive) need an HDMI 1.4 connection and from 1 to 4 USB connectors to work, and adding extra USB ports don't require such a big delay.

And even if Nintendo is working on a headset of their own, they won't include it in the basic set as that would greatly increase the price of the machine, further proving that this info is wrong.

Please excuse my bad English.

Former gaming PC: i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Current gaming PC: R5-7600, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s (CL30) and a RX 9060XT 16GB

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

I wouldn't be too surprised if they add in VR capabilities, though I don't see it being used when launch

It's Digitimes, they're just looking for attention because nobody reads their game articles and their site is full of intrusive ads. Don't mind them.

thread title should read, "zelda probably delayed again".
