Anyone citing Activison "pullout out" of E3 is just misconstruing what is really happening.

"In June, we’re going to be at E3 showcasing gameplay from Infinity Ward’s ambitious new game. We’re looking forward to sharing exciting new details about the next great Call of Duty game in partnership with our friends at PlayStation. We’re proud to be participating in this premier video game event, but won’t have an Activision booth on the show floor." http://www.gamespot.com/articles/activision-wont-have-a-booth-on-e3-2016-show-floor/1100-6435246/

They're just incorporating their presentation into the presentation of the highest bidder. Makes tons of sense.

Of course it's relevant, Nintendo is only backing out this year for most likely the same reason the NX isn't releasing during the holidays, unless you want to believe they aren't relevant either. They'll be back in full force E3 2017.

Funny, but not quite true.

If Nintendo comes back next year with the biggest and better E3 ever, I would love to see people reactions.

Im predicting that ll happend.

Next year Nintendo will be back with tons of new cool stuff at E3.

Same people saying E3 is now irelevant, will be saying nintendo saved E3! E3 is back on track.

Even though it never went away or stopped being relevant.

I swear we get this thread every freaking year.

It shouls just be the big 4, there shouls be a show for Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft and someone representing PC (Valve, Nvidia, AMD i dont care) and they should allow the best third party to show stuff on their stands, this way people know what to expect during the year, its lovely to how a big show to look forward to.

It was a bit to blown up at a certain point but there is still much value in E3

I don't know about the best E3 ever, but it will certainly be miles better than the previous two as they wont have any excuses (NX) to not show us what they're working on.

EA bowed out

in favour of having their own thing just over the street from E3, in the same time period as E3.

It's effectively an E3 event.

effectively - actually but not officially or explicitely.

AKA "not."

Effectively = not.

It's not an E3 event. It's their own thing. Doesn't matter the details, because at the end of the day, it's entirely independant of E3.

Effectively = actually but not officially or explicitly

The thing about definitions is that you can't just pick one of the words in your definition and pretend it means that.

I could just as easily spin it to:

Effectively = actually

It's actually an E3 event!

My point with this is that doing what you just did is a crap way of argumenting, and not fit for a proper discussion.

For all I care, every publisher could dropout of E3, and instead have their own events in exactly the same area and the exact same week. Then we don't have to call it E3, call it US Games Week. Heck, it doesn't have to have an official name, we can call it game announcement christmas. However that still wouldn't diminish the importance of that week when it comes to video game announcements and the video game industry in general. It would have the same media coverage and hype related to it.

Seems like only "Nintendo fans" find E3 no longer worth it.

Can add me to the list since I've got the PC E3 to watch, especially since most that is shown at the main E3 is geared towards consoles or exclusives, none of which are aimed at me.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
