Ofcourse its relevant, but just not relevant like before. Now companies reviles huge games outside E3 too and they also have own conferences too.

Having a live conference at E3 is as relevant as having to go to church on a religious holiday. Basically not at all.
If Nintendo goes on stage next year at E3, even if their show is the best by FAR, I'll be wondering why they didn't have a direct, a treehouse, and a event outside of E3 (like I'm doing this year but add the Direct as well).

Yet millions of people around the world watch them and they can arguably make or break a console (Xbox One). If that's not relevant then I'd love to hear what you think is? |
Yet again live conferences aren't. They all could have done digital events that week and what would have changed? Nothing.
Ka-pi96 said:
They could have, but they didn't. Maybe they could be replaced and it wouldn't make a difference, but as long as they are still happening they will still be relevant. |
But 99.9% of the people there wer NOT the consumers. The consumers were mostly thos of us watching it on the interenet. Yet again, live conferences are irrelevant.
The time frame is relevant, and the name E3 I think is still relevant. The presentation on the other hand isn't at all.

Whether they're live or not may not be particularly relevant. But the conferences themselves are still very much relevant. |
I agree. Which is why I specifically wrote live conferences. They are outdated, and investors and consumers alike can get FAR more out of a digital event than a live conference. It's archaic.

There's something about a big stage and developers coming on to show them in front of a live audience whose reactions very much influence the reactions of viewers.
The finaly fantasy 7 remake reveal was made so much better by the huge pop when the word 'remake' showed up on screen. Digital announcements are for trailers, live conferences have much more atmosphere.

So you're saying the Final Fantasy VII remake would not have been as big of an announcement if there wasn't a reaction from a small group of people who are able to be at some show in LA?
I'd say you are wrong.

Example?

Can you bold where I said that?
I think you're going to find a tough time finding a sizeable amount of people who don't care for Nintendo saying they think live E3 press conferences aren't relevant.

I just figured since you were responding to my post, what you wrote had context to what I was talking about. Apologies.
