It's not really any different from the PS4/XB1 GPUs which were based on the 7850-7870 2012 GPUs from AMD.

Actually the Polaris 10 is cheaper than the 7870 was when it released. Polaris 10 is only $299, 7870 was $350. And the price of RAM has also dropped from 2013.

Here's a pro-tip ... Sony/MS which order components on the scale of *millions* for multiple years get a better price than what a 13-year-old does buying a single GPU from their corner Best Buy. $300 PC GPU being in a newly released console is nothing mind blowing, the PS4/XB1 both already did that 4 years ago.

Again, more power to you if you think you'll get that for an affordable price. I'm just saying you're probably getting one or the other, not both.

You're getting a 6 TFLOP+ GPU in the XBox Scorpio. And it's no big deal, it's not going to cost $800, any more than the XB1/PS4 cost $800 in 2013 because they were using $350 GPU parts for their time.

PS4 needs to stop being treated like it's some kind of super great technology, it's fucking *old* ok? By 2017 something being a factor of several times better is no big deal. It's not going to cost $800. People pushing that narrartive need to give it a rest, a Polaris 10 based GPU is no different from the PS4/XB1 using a 7870-derved GPU for their time.

I didn't bring up PS4 in any shape or form aside from a notation of price versus a GPU. You're treating rumors about undecided technical specifications as fact and throwing out numbers with no consideration for Legacy support (meaning XB1.2 needs to be optimized to process and play games the exact same way as XB1, otherwise there will be major "Arkham-on-pc" problems cropping up everywhere or exclusive titles).

In case you couldn't tell, I'm trying to terminate the discussion, because I don't care to discuss anything relating to feasibility with you when it comes to Xbox. I say good luck to you in your quest to have an affordable XB1.2 at roughly twice the power of the PS4.

I've provided actual context for the discussion.

Sorry if the idea of a powerful XBox has you shook, but you're letting your fanboy-ism cloud the discussion, a 6 TFLOP GPU for 2017 is nothing special, it's right in line with what the PS4/XB1 had for 2013 and that's a fact.

Such a console is not going to cost $800, just like the PS4/XB1 did not cost $800 at launch.

Good luck.

Luck has nothing to do with it. A $300 GPU being the basis of a modern console is common place.

That's a fact.

Yeah. It's that you think that's all that it takes that I say good luck.

I really don't understand why you think "luck" has anything to do with anything, lol.

Either the technology exists or it doesn't, Polaris is the new gen technology for 2016, that's almost certainly what MS will use, why you would correlate to luck is mind boggling.

Polaris is not "high end" either, it's a budget GPU.

Also too many posters on VGChartz think the PS4 is something special, like it's still not far off from cutting edge. It's not. Some of you guys think PS4 is this:

When in reality by 2017 it's actually this (in tech cycles):

A Polaris 10 is not some miracle technology, lol, it's a budget 2016 GPU, that being in a 2017 home console is nothing shocking. The only shocking thing really would be if MS was using something else ... using Polaris is a no-brainer.

It's like you think software will magically work on whatever hardware you want it to. You're looking at hardware and prices with such a degree of tunnel vision that you don't understand that it doesn't work like that. There's a reason you can't just rip a PS4 OS and run it on a PC.

I agree with Soundwave. Plus MS and sony don't pay the same prices we pay. They get a Bulk deal.

That doesn't have anything to do with anything. MS is going to use a Polaris 10 most likely because it makes sense.

It's actually basically the 2016 equivalent of what the 7850-7870 that the XBox One/PS4 used and it's what Sony would be using as well if they were launching in fall 2017.

What software makers want to do with that technology is up to them.

Again too the 7850-7870 are fucking old (what's in the PS4-XB1). I don't think AMD even makes that GPU for PC purposes any longer. That's how freaking old they are, thinking the PS4 is the standard for anything is like the guy who thinks an iPhone 4S is still pretty much the standard phone ... Uhhhhh .... no.
