So Nintendo recently (meaning like probably earlier today) updated their E3 page for 2016. E3 is not even a month away now, so its only logicaal that they would do that as they have the past years. But if you were hoping for some kind of game announcement along with the Zelda treehouse discussion like I was, you are out of luck. The website loads up by displaying a new symbol that will likely have some deeper meaning in the new Zelda game. Then the background shows the "new world of zelda" shot that was from the E3 2014 trailer. As you scroll down you get the same stuff we already knew about. Tune into the treehouse event, come see the immersive Zelda experience at E3, and nothing else.

and if youre thinking that they probably have something else, at least some 3DS game coverage, well I doubt it. Even in the headline for the site, the triforce is placed directly after "E3 2016" so it does seem as though they are dedicating it completely to Zelda.

now, im not blowing this up or anything. We knew for a while that Zelda wa going to be the focus, but it seems undeniable now that this is it. No new Sun and Moon footage, no new 3DS games in the works, this is all they will show.

I'm excited to see Zelda, but this is just sad...

The plot continues to thinken. If they're showing absolutely nothing but Zelda, they have to have a damn good reason for it. They have to show off Pokemon Sun and Moon, Dragon Quest VII,VIII, and XI, Monster Hunter Generations, there's so many upcoming 3DS titles that they need to talk about. My guess is, they're gonna have their own show after E3 but if they were to have a show they should have advertised it by now or at least teased it. Nintendo! What's going on? My body is uneasy.

Didn't the Nintendo E3 site went live a long while ago?

It does seem odd that they aren't at least showing off Pokemon Sun and Moon... Perhaps their focus on Zelda is an effort to really make a game people want that will soon be on the Nx?

It's been pretty clear either way that Nintendo has shifted most of its resources into the Nx library beginning, at a minimum, probably about 2+ years ago. They might be saving all of that stuff for one big announcement later in the year. They did, after all, say the primary reason the Nx is missing this holiday season is that they want to avoid the same small launch library issue they had with the Wii U.

One thing to keep in mind, though, is that the usual participants at E3 have been doing less and less each year, with some major developers dropping it entirely. While it was a useful tool recently in the reveal of the PS4/Xbox1, the importance of the expo has largely been on the decline for a while now, with big announcements often taking place at other expos and all of the content available on the internet rendering it, in some ways, almost pointless.

It's a fun event, but I think this increasing disinterest in E3 may be a portent of things to come for the fixture. Neither people nor developers/companies really need it anymore.

They have a ton of great 3DS games coming out, it would be a shame if they just don't show them.
