Forums - Nintendo - Ogre Battle 64

Is this on the VC, and if not will it ever be? I never got to play it but I remember hearing it was an amazing game, and I love SRPGs.

I hope it comes to VC! I loved this game. And really, I'd love it more if they made a new one.

Yea its easily one of the best SRPG's ever. One of my all time favorite games as well. If you still have a N64 you could try to find it on ebay or something.

If it was very successful when it was released it most probably will.

Anyone know who owns the rights to it? It doesn't seem like the type of game to get a remake, so if it's someone who's currently supporting the VC, it might see a release.

As an aside, is it anything like the Knight of Lodis for the GBA? I'm about 18 hours through that game, and I can barely put it down. The world needs more quality, non-grind-heavy SRPGs. :(

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

I hope it comes out on the VC. I could never find the game anywhere and the alternative method is glitchy.

@Garcian Smith
While Tactic Ogre and Ogre Battle Share similarities, there are many differences. There are no emblems, instead you also need the proper equipment to unlock classes. Alighnment changes more, and has an affect on the story line.

The main difference is the battle system. Instead of a Tactic Ogre's system, the player break there units into groups of five (big units count as 2), and move along the map. Battle happens when two groups of characters meet.

etc.

I think both are great game though.

 No they're very very different.  Aside from being set in the same world.  People disagree with me but I believe the storyline goes like this.

Knight of Lodis(GBA) - Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen (SNES) - Ogre Battle - Person of Lordly Caliber = Tactics Ogre, Let Us Cling together.

If your looking for another quality SRPG i'd try and find the PS1 version of Let Us Cling Togegther.

It's just like Knight of Lodis except there are no medals and the battle system is done with CTs.

I'd guess Square-Enix owns the rights to the Ogre games as they purchased Quest back in 2002.
