Bad news Call of Duty fans, according to sources you will need an Infinite Warfare disc in your system in order to play the Call of Duty 4 Remastered. If this rumour is indeed true that means many peoples plans to buy the game just to sell it on, after they have got their Modern Warfare download, have just been ruined.

Fresh off hearing this rumour we decided to do a bit of digging ourselves and when we looked on Activision’s official website we noticed this in the support section.

 

 

You could translate the answer as meaning you can’t get Modern Warfare without owning Infinite Warfare however the FAQ clearly says ‘play’.

It’s worrying times for Activision, especially after the negative reaction they got off the back of the Infinite Warfare trailer release and the issues with supply drops in Black Ops 3. Lets hope this is indeed just speculation. We will keep you updated.

I hope people don't bother at all with this game. Even if the remaster is enticing, IW seems to be a big dud. 



Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

this isnt any different than when you got Bioshock 1 with Bioshock Infinite for PS3. You still needed the disc. I would be surprised if it wasnt the case for COD IW

At least Bioshock infinite was a good game though

There is no actual evidence that Infinite Warfare will be bad. All we have to judge the game on is a single trailer. What we do know is that this is the first Infinity Ward CoD with 3 years of development instead of 2 years, that might just count for something. We also know that Infinity Ward went on a AAA developer hiring spree after Ghosts, which is another good sign. 

So did AW and BO3. Both weren't universally liked, and the future genre is already tired out. Trust me, we aren't going to see anything mindblowing here.
