Forums - Nintendo - Been out of the loop but i think the NX is obvious.

Nintendo Netflix + Nintendo Netflix subscription + dedicated Nintendo Netflix handheld + dedicated Nintendo Netflix home console.

Things to bear in mind:

"The console is just a box to play Nintendo games"

Nintendo's $cost/console < XBL/PSN subscription per generation. 5yrs subs = Nintendo home/handheld cost.

3rd parties- No problem with making games for ios/android or DS. The excuses for Wii don't apply to mobile/handheld for some unknown reason. (bets/investment poured into HD triplets when they should have been placed on or reserved for Wii)

The power gimmick. The NES/SNES never attempted the power gimmick despite revisionist history. Computer games were leagues ahead techically. The only time Nintendo tried the tech gimmick was with N64. That resulted in Mario 64 launch game (show off the consoles gimmick), OoT-the most memorable game of the gen, Goldeneye/Perfect Dark-brought FPS to consoles and spanked most PC offerings. Still got pwnd by the piss weak, cutscene, cinematic gangbang PS1.

DS/Wii repeats- 2D Mario, 3D Mario, Kart, Brawl, Zelda and more. Nintendo has reached the point where most of us would be happy to have one game shared over 2 consoles even if that means a graphical hit. Imagine Nintendo's output if their A-Teams only had to put out one 2d/3d/kart/fighting Mario and it works for both home and handheld. Wii series, Fzero, starfox, metroid, zelda, in fact ....all of Nintendo's IPs. Theyre at parity or close enough that a high res/low res version can be made for handheld and home quite easily thereby freeing up Nintendo's time=doubling output.

App v games- A Nintendo app that allows you to play/stream games Nintendo games through ios/android/windows/xb/ps/steam doesn't mean nintendo has gone 3rd party. It means it's up to MS/Sony to allow the app on their console knowing that Nintendo reaps all the profit v 60/40 split an app/indie game makes.

If I was Nintendo................

I think Nintendo can clear up the whole gaming market if they did what theyre best at, making Nintendo games. Fuck 3rd parties. Bring back the seal of quality and stop them from polluting the Nintendo ecosystem. This is what I'd do.

Handheld $130/FREE: $90 cpu, $40 profit. Or free with 1yr Nintendo subscription ($10/mth)

Home console = handheld dock upgrade: $250 standalone, $120 if already bought handheld, free with 3yr subscription. Handheld is the cpu for home console. Takes $100 off the home console price if already bought handheld.

PCWii = Addon for home console providing PC level graphics. Handheld + home console provides CPU/RAM/HD and 1/4 GPU. Addon provides the other 3/4.

PCWIIVR= All the above plus another $1000 just to teach the fuckers who called the Wii a gimmick an expensive lesson.

What I think Nintendo will actually do:

Nintendo app available through ios/android/3ds - plays new minigames and emulates past games, can play multiplayer with someone who owns NX dedicated handheld/home console.

Dedicated handheld: As above + plays 'Nintendo games in low res' on the move.

Dedicated home console: As above + plays 'Nintendo games in high res'. Acts as dock for handheld.

Nintendo will make a game. This game will be available through their account on any device.

If playing on ios/android, only the minigames, gimmicky app or streamability will be available. If it's the NX handheld then it's a low res full game plus the ios shit. If playing on Nintendo's dedicated home console/PC/Steam/XB/PS then it's all of above in high res plus all the bells n whistles.

Apple, Google, Microsoft, Sony don't make a penny from Nintendo. They either give Nintendo's app the go ahead or not.

OoT was the most memorable game of the Generation... which featured FF7? I'm just saying I don't recall as much fangasms when E3 last year gave us the first look at the FF7:R as there was when OOT was remastered in 3d a couple of years back, I mean.... Zelda64 OoT is a fantastic and one of the best games of all times.... but no, a group of terrorists fighting against a corrupt world ending corp takes the award for most memorable in my... and I would think a lot of others opinions also.

not to mention the generation also started Resident Evil, another game which when it got remastered on the GC years later people creamed themselves for and again last year when it got HD'd up.

FF7 v Ocarina?

Buy a vowel ffs.

Edit: To be fair, FF7 might hold up better today than OoT. I don't know because I'd never waste my time playing a Final Fantasy game. How have the past 10 FFs been?

Tekken and Gran Turismo were more well known and liked than FF7 and thats just Playstation.

The N64 saw the sequel to Mario Kart and the introduction of Smash Brothers.

Night night.
