Nintendo used to be the kings of the perfect sequel, so I could list tons of games that improved upon their predecessors in every way, but I think Paper Mario TTYD really stands out. There was not even one thing that wasn't leagues better. The tone and the story and the interesting environments and the added audience mechanics... It was the sort of sequel you can't ever realistically hope for, because it's just too perfect.

Maybe that's why they felt like they had to change up the format. The game was too perfect to ever top. XP

Mass effect 2, by a substantial margin. Though again Mass Effect was a very good game, and I think story-wise was more interesting than ME2.

I think of Uncharted 2, Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time, Assasin's Creed II, Warcraft III, Persona 3, FF4, Mother 2, Red Alert 2, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, and Soul Calibur II all really stick out to me.

Every here is saying MGS2.....I'm going with MGS3.

Just the main character alone makes it so much better, plus it has the camo system, and it sets up the story for the entire series as its a prequel.

ALSO, MGS3 Subsistence was the first MGS to have online, AND the first to have a freely moveable camera.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Sorry, but I disagree with you there. Excluding gameplay, it was worse in every category. It scaled back significantely on RPG elements, introduced lazy elements like ammo(for a futuristic shooter, this made no sense), and was far more linear (exploration cut back, and just the general missions as well).

I  don't know about that.

I felt like 3 improved on everything compared to 2. More open world, more guns, more exploration, more vehicles, better story, answers a lot of important questions,etc.  It was just a better game overall.
