Forums - Gaming - Is anybody scared to purchase Nintendo games digitally from fear of not being able to play on future consoles

I mean... correct me if I am wrong but... If you bought games on your ps3 like uncharted 2... You can't play them on your ps4 right? So like if you are a afraid of that, then you should be afraid of buying it on the other platforms as well? Maybe other than PC...

Also heck, you could transfer ur digital titles from ur wii to ur wiiU so... Thats more than what you could do with ps3 to ps4...

Depends on the game. Games that are meant to available on multiple consoles do not have to be repurchased on the other console. I was able to download the 15 or so PS1 classics I had on for my Vita despite purchasing them a few years prior.

For eShop, I wouldn't be too worried. They'll have some way to use your stuff after they retire it.

I'm planning on keeping my wii U :^) haven't downloaded many games on it though. It's the opposite for my 3ds.

If I can't play my 3ds games on NX, then oh well. Perfectly fine on my 3ds. Runs fine and is comfortable

You're damn rights I am. I'm waiting until the NX for any of that shit, should it be better. Which my intuition is telling me.

Even still, I collect games. So I'll definitely be sticking with physical copies. If they are going with cartages again. That's going to be pretty sick actually. I just hope it's not in boxes like the N64 games. I ALWAYS keep all my packages and everything. After all, I collect them xD

You may like cross compatible? I tend to keep all my consoles, so it's not an issue for me.

Whenever I buy something digitally (excluding Steam/PC) I buy it with the mentality that I can only play it on the platform I buy it on.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I was thinking the same thing. My 360 downloads aren't playable on the XBO, either.

Emulators. You bought the games, so you're not commiting a crime by downloading the roms and playing elsewhere.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Nintendo's the only company to let you transfer all digital 7th gen games to your 8th gen platforms, and the physical ones were still playable via backwards compatibility. The other companies didn't do that :P
I've bought a lot of digital games on my 3DS, my only hope is that they'd remove the system-locked games.

And that's the reason why we have new My Nintendo account system

That's why I am not buying retail games for any console as a digital download. The will probably not work on the next console and who knows how long I can download it on the older one. Also Nintendo is kinda behind all the others and ties the games to the console instead of the account.

I would like to have a system like the PC where I can still play most games until today which where bought more than a decade ago.
