Mine is between Infernape and Feraligatr...

No it's Infernape. Feraligatr hold a strong second place, though. I wish they'd fix his name, though. Damn 10char.

Gen 1: Bulbasaur- i already have a harted of grass types due to their insane amount of weaknesses. but bulbasaur is especially useless. if i ever needed a grass/poison type, i could always catch a Bellsprout/Oddish up in Cerulean City. on my VC Blue game i just trained up a Parasect and he does great.

You can tell when someone doesn't play competitvely. Before mega's Venusaur was the only truly viable Kanto starter and with his mega he's even more viable. Calling him useless is simply wrong, its just that you don't know how to use him.

Gen 2: Chikorita- aside from my dislike of grass, i used Cyndaquil in silver and totodile in SoulSilver so i just have no attachment at all to it.

Gen 3: Treeko- i dont get what the big deal is or why the treeko line is so loved. it is the only gen 3 starter not to get a secondary type and really my only attackment to it is from the mystery dungeon games.

Because its a good Pokemon that doesn't need a secondary typing, Yes it gets dragon as a mega but that just makes him ice fodder for his lacking defence. Treecko is amazing Pokemon has great stats and did you see grovyle's design?  Its pretty clear as to why treecko is loved.

gen 4: Chimchar- this started didnt really bring much new to the table. a monkey, nothing special. Blaziken already beat Infernape to the fire/fighting typing. and look at the other 2. Torterra is still the only grass/ground type and Empoleon gets so many resistances with that steel/water typing.

And Prior to gen 5, Infernape was also superior to Blaziken, and he honestly has a better diesgn by far. Empoleon is just an absolutely terrible mon compared to the other 2.

Gen 5: Tepig & Snivy- for Tepig, we got 2 fire/fighting already so this is just lame. and Snivy just becomes a snake with no unique features. like... where did its arms go?

Gen 6: Fennekin- Delphox is just a lame final evolution design and compared to Greninja and Chesnaught, it gets put to shame.

Gen 7: Popplio- i love water types, and i am definitely choosing Popplio in sun and moon, but come on, that design is just bad. the clown theme is not going well for it, and I have even seem fans redraw Popplio and make it look 10x better while only changing a few details. but how did water starers go from a Ninja to a Clown? seriously?

The starters are unrelated to previous gens. I like his design, you saying his design is bad is your opinion. I find him cute.

Just a few responses to the ones I disagree with.

alright. i wasnt basing it off of any factual evidence. the way i play pokemon is, i go through the game and raise a teamof pokemon i find cool and unique. and in simple playthroughs, a lot of the grass starters are pretty useless. and of course its my opinion, this thread directly asks people their least favorites, it was meant to be an opinion piece

My least favorite starters as a whole would have to be Gen 2, with Gen 5 a close second...
The hatred for Gen 4 confuses me...
Bulbasaur>Squirtle>Charmander...
Tododile>Chikorita>Cyndaquil...
Torchic>Treeco>Mudkip...
Tertwig>Chimchar>Piplup...
Tepig>Oshawott>Snivy...
Froakie>Chrspin>Fennekin...
Rowlet>Litten>Popplio...

Have a nice day...

Here's my favorites and least favorites.

Gen 1

Favorite: Squirtle.  Maybe not the best in battle, but it's cute as a Squirtle, and awesome-looking as a Blastoise.

Least favorite: Charizard.  It's okay, but it's not the be-all-end-all of starters like the fanboys try to claim.

Gen 2

Favorite: Not a huge fan of any of them, but I guess Cyndaquil's probably my favorite, mainly due to its cute first form.

Least favorite: Totodile.  The design just doesn't appeal to me.  None of them are very good in battle, but I did like the designs of the other two quite a bit.

Gen 3

Favorite: Tough one.  The Hoenn starters are my favorite by far.  But I have to go with Mudkip.  Cute first form, awesome final form, kicks ass in battle (though hasn't quite aged as well in gen 6 in that regard).

Least favorite: Do I have to?  Ummm... Treecko I guess?  I still really like its design, and literally the only thing that put it lower than Torchic for me is that damn speed boost.

Gen 4

Favorite: Turtwig.  May not be the best in battle, but I just love how it looks.  The way its first form just smiles at you, and that awesome continent on its back in the final form.  If it wasn't for that ice weakness, I'd use it all the time.

Least favorite: Chimchar.  I still enjoy using it, but I'm not as much of a fan of its design as the other two.  It's not bad, just doesn't appeal to me.  Good in battle, though.

Gen 5

Favorite: Snivy, by a mile.  It's always been one of my favorites ever design-wise, and FINALLY it became great in battle with that oh so sweet Contrary ability.

Least favorite: Can I just give it to both of the others?  Both have a good first form design, only to screw it up with their final forms.  They're also pretty lackluster in battle.

Gen 6

Favorite: Greninja.  Awesome final form, amazing ability, and overall I just love this thing.

Least favorite: Chespin.  Just found him kinda forgettable.

Haven't made up my mind with gen 7.  On first impression, I like Litten the best, but I'm gonna have to play the game first to make up my mind.

Gen 1: Bulbasaur: I've got no problems with him, he's just my least favorite of the three

Gen 2: Chikorita: Stat-wise, she's awful and never appealed to me like the other 2

Gen 3: Mudkip: I actually really like Mudkip, but his stats are rather unimpressive and I didn't have the drive to use him

Gen 4: Turtwig: Typing wasn't my thing and he didn't have anything that stood out

Gen 5: Tepig: Like Torchic but slow as hell, and his final evolution just looks dumb

Gen 6: Chespin: Never been a fan of slow pokés (seen in my choices) and he didn't catch my attention like the other two (I'd but Fennekin here for bad stats but Pokken made me soften up )

Gen 7: Rowlet: I'm not sure why, but I'm not a fan of his design (though I'm not that big on any of their designs at this point) and it was close between Litten and Rowlet, but Rowlet just seems weird to me. Maybe his final evolution will look better and my opinion will change

Nice, those are good pics as well, and ones I really like as well. I think 2nd gen starters were overall well designed.

1. Bulbasaur; they're all cool, I just think he falls a bit short.

2. Chikorita; never felt attracted to the design of Chikorita. I also hate how Typhlosion and Feraligatr have been redesigned in generation 6.

3. Treecko; nothing against him. I simply like mudkip and torchic more.

4. Chimchar; personally, i think turtwig and piplup were more creative. All still great though.

5. Serperior- I liked emboar, and never felt like serperior's design was right

6.Fennekin- Delphox looks hideous. Simple.

7. Litten- Based on looks, I think litten looks the worst. Doesn't mean much, considering how I think they all look great

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.
