Wait, it should be stated that Nintendo going with AMD was never a rumor. It was speculation.

A rumor is when someone says they know something is true and know one knows if its true. Speculation is when people think something could be true based off related evidence (or delusion). There was never ANYONE in the know who claimed that AMD was providing anything for NX. There was just speculation based off financial reports and their history with Nintendo.

I would love this to be true, but I'm pretty sure Nintendo wants a seamless experience with the NX console and handheld. Any PC gamer will tell you that optimisation is a huge issue here. So they are likely both AMD or both Nvidia. Nintendo has never REALLY worked with them before. I remember reading a long time ago that the 3DS was originally going to use a Nvidia chipset, but the power consumption was to high or something. That would have been amazing though.

It would be great if Nvidia does try to break into the console market through Nintendo and take the hit. Plus with Nvidia's ego, they probably wouldn't let Nintendo release anything under powered. That would love very bad for them. Nivdia would get laughed at. I doubt they would like that run past their pride.

I don't really see how they could possibly have GPUs from different companies and have any realistic type of unified platform structure.

That's exactly what I was trying to say. Was it not :P

Nvidia mobile chip would create lots of headaches for backwards compatibility too.

Nvidia is saved!!!!

These rumors. They're suffocating me.

Intresting.

For a portable a Tegra X1 would be pretty nice, though I suspect it would be downclocked by Nintendo because it can run hot.

For a console though it'd be pretty crappy.

So if this is true, how much power we'd be talking about? Some comparaison between an existent hardware?

You know it deserves the GOTY.
