Forums - Gaming - Who else doesnt mind a Souls game every year?

I always have read the complaints when Fromsoftware announced DSIII: another Souls, really? Call of Soulsborne etc etc.

Despite that i dont like Dark Souls 3 as much as i adore Bloodborne i still love this game. I get so much enjoyment out from these Souls games what is wrong about them doing it every year? I really dont get how can people complaing.

I really hope that Fromsoftware continious to make a new Souls game every year, espacially in this gaming industry where they are charging us 70€ for a brand new AAA game @day 1 or the long delays and waiting time of up to 2 years for a new game. Dark Souls 3 is worth every penny you pay for and every minute you waited for it to be released.

I cant wait for Ni Oh and Deep Down as well, so more AAA Souls/hard games so better.

They're too long to release yearly in my opinion. I would stop buying them unless the games were exceptional compared to their predecessors, as I really don't have the time to put 40-80 hours into a souls game every year that plays very much like the previous title. Plus they don't change enough for yearly releases. Bi-yearly would be okay, but I think 3-4 years between release would be good. Make the next game bigger and better. Dark Souls 3 is great, but it isn't enough of a departure from Dark Souls and Dark Souls II for me to justify its sequel being next year.

I don't mind! Souls games are the best in gaming, each giving me +150 hours of entertainment, and each having superb quality. I don't mind getting them each year.

From is amazing because they're so productive.

Sure I don't have to, but like I said: I'd rather they put more time and effort into development and innovations than to fall into the Pokemon trap of incremental changes. And if a lot of people are like me, the sales can slouch. Look at Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty - both much bigger series than Souls that have slowed down a bit due to yearly releases. You might be alright with a yearly Dark Souls game now, but if it means the series stagnates (like these series had) then your tune might change.

I will also like to add that I don't consider Bloodborne and Demon's Souls to be a problem if they come between Dark Souls releases in a yearly fashion. They are different enough from Dark Souls to merit a separate release schedule.

Nah, I would hate if the Souls series was reduced to codesque garbage. No matter how much you like a series you need a break from it occasionally or else you'll eventually burn out. Look at the hype Kingdom Hearts 3 is generating. The only reason thats happening is because people had to wait. Same thing with Final Fantasy XV.

I honestly don't prefer the Souls series at all. the way the series plays puts me off and isn't my jam tbh, I just want FS to make a few new Armored Core games or at least get back on track with that franchise.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

I'm not gonna lie, but I really want another Bloodborne game, I'm not sure why but there is something about european or eerie london atmosphere to be specific that I like, and after playing Bloodborne, DSIII seemed kinda too easy. But I'm not sure I'd like a yearly souls game.

Nintendo Switch FC: SW-6340-7643-4233 aka Renji

Steam: Lee Roid

I wouldn't mind a Souls game every two year and a Bloodborne every year between.
