Thats alot.... you get 10m users to play your beta, you know sales are gonna be good.

Doesnt say anything because you needed origins account in order to play the SW Battlefront Beta, even on PS4. SW would have gotten more beta participiants if it would removed this barrier

Well I see it as 21 heroes who all play pretty similarly, with no skills or perks or anything like that to unlock. Only 2 game modes and 12 maps. Loot that doesn't actually change the way your character plays or enhance them in anyway. And of course, worst part it's multiplayer only. If you love multiplayer games then great, although even then I'd say it's still lacking in content. If it was attached to a full singleplayer game then sure, but by itself it just doesn't feel like a full game. |
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you've played the game. None of the characters play alike. 1 swings a hammer, 1 uses bow and arrows, 1 shoots rockets, 1 lobs bombs, I could go on, but you get it. This doesn't even factor in the mobility differences, roles, or special moves. So I highly disagree with the claim that they play similarly.
I'm very glad that loot boxes are only cosmetic. Guess what the biggest complaint is about black ops 3 multiplayer. You guessed it, loot boxes with actual weapons being locked.
There are 3 game modes (payload, attack/defend, and control) along with a hybrid.
Finally, the game is multiplayer only, but the game is only $40. Would you want to pay an extra $20 for a rushed story that takes time away from the multiplayer. If you are interested in the lore, they released blurbs, comics and cinematics

I played it, they all seem pretty similar to me. Just different weapons, but the majority of them are just guns still. I always thought moba type games were supposed to have more unique characters with level ups and a variety of skills/abilities and what not to choose from. Not just 1/2 skills that you have from the start and a single gun each. Yeah, I get why the loot is only cosmetic. But for someone like me who doesn't care about cosmetic stuff there might as well be no loot at all. So it's a budget release in the US? Well that's fine for you guys, but here in the UK it's already full price at £42 ($60). Now if this was a budget release maybe I would be more interested, but here it's not. |
None of the weapons I listed are guns (rockets, bombs, arrows, hammer) but you are convinced they are all just "guns"? From support to builder to tank, the characters are wildly varied. Some characters go complex with up to 5 abilities. Not only would more abilities be very confusing (on top of some already subtle abilities) but the button mapping for consoles would be exponentially chaotic.
in terms of loot boxes, it's way better to have cosmetics only than to have anything meaningful locked. Knowing blizzard, they are bound to monetize the loot crates, but that's fine since it's only cosmetics. I'd rather have no loot crates than to have impactful things locked. Having the current system is even better
Make sure you are not looking at the origins editions as that is $60 here. The base game here is $40 and I would imagine it's similar in most places
OP should add the gears beta (1.6 million) for context of how insanely good these numbers are.
overwatch looks the least fun between this and paragon and battleborn but having a good community is also very important so maybe this is the one i play too.

It's $60 on console everywhere, while PC has an optional $40 digital only version that is missing some cosmetic stuff. |
PC also has 3 physical versions. That have that missing stuff, for one. And two deluxe versions come with soundtrack, artwork, and a statue of Young Winston or Tracer. I thought the beta was great. And there's more to it. You wouldn't run the games cinematics at a theater event, on launch day. If it wasn't gonna have lots of stuff. There has to be alot of them. Which would make me suspect. More extended things to do, in the game modes. The only negative the game has, is really just no single player campagin. Which they could do, as a future DLC.
