I really like Chespin and Froakie when we first saw the Gen 6 starters (I ended up choosing Froaki if anyone cares)...
I honestly don't remember anyone going head over heels for Fennekin...

I loved Froakie from the moment I saw it, I thought it was just so cute and I felt the design was the best when compared with the other two. This gen I feel the same way about Popplio though Rowlet is admittedly cuter. I don't really like Litten's design that much rn I'm sure I'll get used to it and like it eventually...

What if..

Litten's evolutionary relatives are a return to Fire/Fighting with Rowlet's evolutionary relatives being Grass/Flying as well and Popplio's evolutionary relatives being Water/Ice. It's a near perfect triangle of weaknesses.

Pixel Art can be fun.

I think the thing is that froakie wasn't hated. I think they were all overall liked. It could end up a different pokemon ends up being popular after release since it really comes down to final evolution. That's what people care about the most with their starters.

The water type looks like a circus seal while the owl looks like a round thing

None really catch my eye so my pick will be between the fire and the grass

I blindly picked Chespin for XY due to thinking he will be useful, but was the worst of the 3 :/
