Holy shit WW sales will be an even bigger bloodbath.  Hell in Japan it sold about 300k more on ps4 alone.

Wouldnt be suprised if you looked at total sales world wide, it was like 90% PS4 sales to 10% Xbox One sales.

Yeh, for some reason Nintendo's PR release originally stated 5 (hence why I posted 5) and then they updated it to 6 later. 

NPD made the same mistake where they said hardware sales were down 21% but then later corrected it to 23%. 

Well... i doubt Xbox One  sold more than 500 units of Dark Souls 3 on Japan, so anything PS4 Sells on Japan will be the difference between the 2 consoles.

It's getting to the point where the series only releasing on ps4/pc would make sense.  And I'd imagine a decent portion of the buyers on xbox would get it on PC/ps4 anyway.  

You can see why they weren't too bothered doing the bloodborne deal with Sony.  I wonder will they make a bloodborne 2 next year? A Q4 release would be ideal as that would be 1 year and 7 months after DS3.

Dark Souls 3 was announced in Microsoft's E3 last year wasn't ?, and i think that was one of the most important games of Microsoft's stand on Gamescom, even so they failed to make the Xbox One users purchase Dark Souls 3, PS4 Only have over 2 Millions of units more than Xbox One on USA, even so the game  sold 2x more on PS4.

Some really great data and talking points here, especially how the software market is now dominated by the same top 10 publishers with 90% of all dollar sales.

With less dollars available in the packaged software market, for those outside the top 10, the number of Publishers bringing games to retail has dropped as well. Retail is now very narrow with only core AAA games in certain genres selling exceptionally well.

As the number of unique games published at retail in the U.S. decreases, so does the total dollar spend.

The sales splits for FFXV and KHIII are going to be extremely fun to watch.

I see the software sales have dropped from the halcyon days of the industry. The peak that was a once off rather than the norm. But we're back to the stabilised norm now. Which isn't a bad thing. Just don't expect the halcyon days to return anytime soon.
