Forums - Nintendo - The Impressive growth of Pokémon on Social Media

So today I'd like to take a look at how much Pokémon has grown on various social media and other platforms, especially on YouTube.

Why you may ask ? well to put it simply because the first trailer for Sun/Moon has now made more than 6 times the lifetime views of the Pokémon Direct that was made right back in 2013 and where Pokémon X and Y were announced.

It's to be noticed that the first video was published on the YouTube channel of Nintendo which has always had an higher number of subscriber than the Pokémon one (in fact Nintendo's now sits at 1.6M while the Pokémon one just crossed the 1M mark thanks to the latest announcement).

(will update later with Facebook and Twitter, for now discuss :p)

kindaish. I don't know if VGChartz is undertracked but D/P sit at 18M while according to the latest reports from Nintendo X/Y sit over 14M which is pretty near given that D/P released 7 years before, of course I don't expect X/Y to gain magically another 4M sales, but I think it can sell another 1 or 2M which puts it pretty near to D/P.

Still we're talking about Social Media so the main topic is how much people are following Pokémon now compared to a period when they were on the same system to have an idea of the growth of it's share...

I guess their online presence wasn't as big before, but it's good to see a lot of hype for this game

The Pokemon XY direct was livestreamed. Dont know how big of a difference it makes, but that's something.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Pokemon has been pretty stable for the last 15 years.

R/S, D/P, B/W, X/Y have all sold in the 15-18 million range.

FR/LG, HG/SS, OR/AS have all sold in the 10-12 million range.

Emerald, Platinum, B/W2 have all sold in the 6-8 million range.

pokemon shuffle, pokemon go eminence, pokken.
they are broading the pokemon brand. There are more people interested on pokemon. ok, not all of them would get the new 3ds pokemon game, but maybe some of them. and that is very good. the good effect to bring pokemon brand to mobiles.

Oh I know that, I'm just making a point as to why Diamond/Pearl sold just a bit more than X/Y.
