Very interesting if true. This would show that Nintendo wants the spotlight on themselves when showing a new console. Can't see how this would be a bad thing since the PS4 wasn't revealed at E3 either. Couple this with the fact that Nintendo hasn't had a stage conference for quite a few years now and this makes even more sense.

Not really with a March global release and considering the only confirmed information on the NX is that Zelda will launch with it any reveal now is not early as it's around 9 months before release, PS4 did the same being shown in February and launching the November straight.  When we do get a date for the event though watch the forums blow up, NX has had more threads than anything else for the past 8 or so months.

There are lots of reasons to skip e3 and do something in July. They may want word of Neo and One Point Five to break first, they may be waiting for certain first or third party software to be ready to be discussed, they may have an innovation they want to make sure competitors don't have time to copy, they may want the spotlight on themselves or a specific venue or format that E3 can't provide.

I will say that Sony's PS4 reveal event was the best of anything for the 8th gen, and was completely its own thing.

This sounds like people are reading too much into what Nintendo said.

Nintendo asked where this claim came from. That could indicate that they're trying to find a leak, or it could indicate they're seeking out a source so that they can correct the error at the source. Or it could literally be intended as a "where did you get that idea?"

It doesn't make any sense to skip a full event in E3 to just show it all in July. Better to use the E3 stage.

More than likely is an event in Sept/Oct or Jan.

Didn't they do something similar before/around the launch of the 3DS in Japan???

If they were going to do that, why not just do it at E3? This doesn't really make sense, so I'm going to say it's false.

if they are going to have an event in July they should just have it at e3 -  

e3 may be changing and may even be a littleless relevant than previos but it is still the " biiggest game in town"
