Forums - Sales - SFV flops on PC...Why?

To be honest... Capcom announced shipped numbers not sold numbers. So you are assuming much on the PS4 front aswell.

You can't ship digital though so you have no proof that these are shipnents and not sell through.

Isn't a fact and is 100% Arrogance, PC have more Casual than Consoles Only on League of Legends already is 150-200 Millions of Casual Players, and Phones have more Casual than PC, 60US$ isn't cheap and people don't throw away money without seeing something about the game, The Majority see with Youtubers

And you are wrong, people on Console does not are loyal to a Brand, because of that After PS2, the Wii sold more than PS3, and the Xbox 360 was a competition, people go for where the games are.

And again, both markets have the Same awareness about the games they are purchasing, if PC Market is much "Smarter" or "Aware" than the other markets, so why Batman Arkhan Knight even after so much bad reviews sold 550-600 Thousands on PC ?, while The Witcher 3 sold 1.4 Millions (on Steam, it sold more on other sites but i don't have the numbers)

Har har har.

We're talking about actually paid games that casuals buy and there's far more on consoles than on PC. LoL is a F2P game with a cash shop like option that can be played on practically any PC regardless of specs - and here you are comparing Street Fighter V which requires quite a bit more punch to run and on top of that has a price tag.

$60 isnt cheap to you but to many who just want to play the game it is - they have and will always spend that much - otherwise franchises such as GTA, Pokemon and CoD would not sell the way they do in the first few weeks/months of release.

The Wii sold more than the PS3 and xbox360 because of a combination of casual gamers + people who do not game normally. It was a one hit wonder that Nintendo lucked out on that obviously did not repeat for the WiiU for obvious reasons.

People are still loyal specificially to franchises if not consoles, more people relate SF to consoles than PC on top of the configuration they have to go through a PC and the fact that the best controller for a game such as this is the DS4, you dont get a DS4 with a purchase of your PC but with your PS4. People who mainly played SF wont just disregard SFV and play Killer Instinct or Super Smash bros - it doesnt work like that.

Both markets do not have the same awareness - there are far more people who buy console games without second guessing than on Steam which is obvious because there are far more people willing to buy games on a console than on a custom/pre-built PC due to the way consoles are made compared to a gaming PC - its always been that way and its the reason why games have always sold more on consoles lol.

Batman Arkham Knight did not have those numbers initially but only after the performance and the game was placed back into the Steam store after WB had the game fixed from the problems it had. There were numerous refunds due to the issues but those issues arent really problematic currently. Hence why whenever a sale occurs - Arkham Knight does get shot up in sales whether its through Steam, Humble Store, GMG, etc.

As for The Witcher 3 - the Witcher 3 never had any issues if I remember right - this isnt a surprise considering the developer was originally a PC developer who had developed games for PC far before transitioning to consoles. The Witcher 3 proves that gamers buy games more on console than PC again due to reasons such as setting up the configuration of your PC, hardware, etc. Its easier to play a game on consoles than on PC so people, specifically casuals will buy the console version thinking it would be safer to play it on a console that is already set up and would have less problems than having to upgrade their PC or testing out the configuration to get the right resolution/FPS.

60US$ isn't cheap in any part of the World, you know How Many times you can watch a movie with 60US$ ?, in my country you can watch more than 15 Movies.

I Stated that 60US$ is too expensive to throw away, and you throw numbers of God-Tier franchises that Everyone know that will be good, but  for the other games 60US$ is too expensive to throw in something that isn't Must Have.

Lol is a Free to Play game but is by far the biggest PC Game nowdays and majority of the players are Casual players, they are spending over 2 Billions every year with the game even the game being Free to Play and not being Pay to Win, so Money isn't the problem for those people, even Free to Play games avaliable on consoles don't have those populariety, more people play League of Legends nowdays than the numbers of people who purchased a PS2.

Batman Arkhan Knight had a lot of Re-fund, but is silly to say that the game don't sold well even with Major problems, also is silly to say that the game only sold after they fixed the Problems, the game launched in June, they fixed the problems in October-November even so the game already had sold Hundreds of Thousands units, while a Well made game without a single issue like The Witcher 3, struggled to sell much more than Double of what Batman did (on Steam), even with 3 Months of Head Start, this prove that Awareness does not mean that the people will not purchase the game, people will purchase the game regardless of any Issue, and Batman Arkhan Knight's issue was by far one of the biggest issues of PC of 2015, Mortal Kombat X also was a issue, even so  the game sold over 500-600 Thousands on PC, and even being the Only fighting game other than Street Fighter on Steam, the game only have over 900 Daily users,  this wasn't a Impulsive purchase from the PC Gamers ?.

Shipments always include digital though.

Besides, you kind of can ship digital There have been times when Steam has run out of keys for certain games when they were on sale so obviously the keys sent to them weren't enough. So you could say the number of keys sent to digital retailers is equivalent to a shipment.

Is that an assumpTion or a facT?

The numbers are of March 31, we are on May 9, don't think that the shipped units already sold-out ?.

Is much Arrogance to state that Console Gamers are less aware of how a game is doing than PC Gamers, both have the same awareness and both aren't Retard to purchase something broken without being aware of that, Street Fighter V sold on Mortal Kombat X's level on the Launch, and it sold over 160 Thousands on PC where the best selling fighting game of Steam only sold 690 Thousands.

Question.

Most console game sales are still retail right??.

When a console gamer walks into a Store does each game have User Reviews right in there face??. No?.

Then i think you can understand what basil meant..

So you think that Console Gamers  purchase games like Retard chickens ?, they don't saw any advertisement of the game or don't played the Beta that was played by really a lot of people ?, and you think that even after the release people who Purchased the game in March, April, May, don't know how the game was ?, User review isn't what make people aware of the game, and Every gamer isn't retard to purchase a game they know nothing about.

PC Gamers and Console gamers have the same awareness, isn't a User review that will change the fact, the % of People who purchase a game without seeing a Trailer or anything about the game, is the same % of people that hit themselves with a Knife.

With a LTD of 268K in USA last NPD, less than 100K in Japan, sales dropping quickly after the launch and a shipped figure for PS4 of ~1.25M, no.

Lack of content at release, and way more options on PC rather than PS4. Plus, if they have to wait, they might as well they wait for a discount.

This in a solid nutshell and the storefront if you count the games that keep pouring onto Steam daily/weekly/monthly and the other stores in general, plenty of games releasing on the platform that competition is rife for people's cash and attention. Also we need to take into account that PC users are generally more informed about games these days and how fast word of mouth spreads.

The fighting game of the generation is Killer Instinct. Which will also be on PC and also be free-to-play. That is Street Fighters competition.

Also keep in mind that PC games have longer legs... There are PS2/Xbox/Gamecube era games (And earlier!) on Steam which will still hit the top of the sales charts once they are on sale.. On console they have fallen into obscurity never to gain another single sold copy again.

Plus fighting games aren't the PC's forte'. Whilst perfectly playable for gamers with a controller, it's garbage on a keyboard in my opinion.

Would love for there to be some digital tracking on vgchartz. Would make comparing PC and Console fair or for Valve to come to the party and release stats.

Forgot to ad but the bolded part is especially true and pretty much a fact because PC is still ongoing as a single open platform while the PS2/Xbox/GC are all dead and stopped selling/producing for which means sales per gen are always going to be limited forever, on PC the only limit is if the store owner(s) stop selling the game but even then there are still other places to buy or play the game in general on the platform. Slow and steady wins the race.
