Forums - Nintendo - [Rumor] Nintendo had a meeting with EA last month: Is this why NX was delayed to 2017?

Yeah, that is certainly unbelievable. Considering the "unprecedented partnership" ended up as a couple of rushed games,  EA's least supported home console and handheld since the Dreamcast,  and a copule of harmful tweets, Nintendo will have as little consideration for EA as they can get away with. I hope Nintendo makes a decent sports simulator to compete with EA sports. An actual, in depth, online multiplayer, Wii Sports. Not a collection of minigames, really deep sports games.

Not if they're smart.  Hopefully they've learned something after the Wii U situation and they address the reasons companies like EA and Ubisoft walked away in the first place.  This is business and there are logical reasons for the way everything works out.

As Reggie said, "we talk to EA all the time. In the end this is simple business.  First party needs to drive a large diverse install base for publishers to create content to take advantage of that install base."  Which, actually, is probably why Nintendo wants to improve their launch line-up.

Holding a grudge is terrible business sense and it can come back to bite you.  It's more likely that no one would have a problem working with Nintendo if they offer support that rivals that found on other consoles.

EA just wanted to have a good laugh before they do another Game exclusive to non-nintendo devices.

They'll release ME4 on the NX for 60 dollars, and at the same time, the HD tetralogy for 30 dollars everywhere else.

Sounds about right.

i thought EA was mostly concerned about nintendo doing something to actively court sports fans or it will withhold all their sports franchises.

Let's be real here - if the NX launched in 2016 without the latest FIFA and CoD, it would be pronounced by many as dead on arrival even if it got Zelda and FFXV and other great games.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

I don't know. I think it hurts them not to launch in 2016. Yes even with a smaller library at launch. There's games this year that could land on NX that would really help them this year. FF15 on NX would be huge. And the PS4 launch has already shown us that you can launch with a small library and be fine. Besides EA will take off after a year again anyway. I don't think that it really is worth it for Nintendo to hold the train for another 5 months to appease one publisher.

A possible case, EA will support with a few launch titles but will see how the NX does
