Forums - Nintendo - How to give the WiiU an almost-okay holiday (for the WiiU owners)

OP thats not a almost okay holiday.
Also Yooka-Laylee will be playable on pc(mac,win,linux),ps4,xb1, ect as well.

The only thing there for the Wii U, really is a Esports Splatoon idea, and some DLC.

If thats what nintendo does for the holidays... jebus...

Paper Mario will be the holiday season. Wonder if they are going to delay Tokyo Mirage for fall. When is Pokken releasing?

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

They should have a fire sale this year/holiday on the eshop, with deep discounts on first and second party games. Keep people busy with the Wii U backlog.

Edit: this point was brought up multiple times this thread.

One of the gamexplain guys said that he expects there to be Skyward Sword HD releasing this holiday season for Wii U. I guess I could maybe see that happening.

I wouldn't mind a Smash bros with all the DLC and updates in-disc. My 8gb Wii U can't play Smash because the update is too large :(

I'll take Paper Mario: Color Splash over all of the above.

Yooka-Laylee isn't going to release in 2016 anyway. Indie developers are notorious for delays, the same goes for kickstarter projects and then there's the fact that the developers are former Rare staff.

This. I will be getting colour Splash, and perhaps Mighty number 9 if that makes it out this year. Then prob have a look at a Wii U game or two that I missed like Fatal Frame or Rodea the sky soldier.

Last month

I can see Paper Mario on the holidays, but I dont think Tokyo Mirage will.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Here's how Nintendo could soften the blow

Yooka-Laylee

Assuming Playtonic hasn't dropped the WiiU version and that they're still targeting a holiday 2016 release - this becomes the de facto big WiiU game for the holiday, even if it is multiplatform. It probably won't light up the sales charts - but it should make Nintendo fans happy.

It's very unlikely that Yooka-Laylee will be released before the NX launch. How many crowdfunded games with bigger budgets have managed to be released on time? Most of them are released at least half a year later than promised, many of them 1 - 2 years later, some of them even longer.

This is pandering to internet groups mad about no Zelda and has nothing to do Wii U owners and a better holiday.

"I want DLC for Xmas mom", said no one ever.

No it's not that -- it's about maintaining a minimal level of intrigue about the Nintendo platform.

Many more people are going to let their WiiUs gather dust this holiday. Practically inarguable fact.

But if there are interesting things still going on - enough people might hang on for the NX. And if it's March that the NX launches "hold on" is precisely what Nintendo needs their customers to do.

I didn't say this makes it okay - it makes it almost okay. These are the most interesting things that can possibly happen for WiiU this holiday. Can it be dealt with? Yes. With a smile? ehh.. idk.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

FE Fates and TMS#FE is enough for me this year.

Maybe some small remasters?
