Forums - PC - I need help with my PC!

It's the T3106.

But since I can still use my hard drive, cd drive, video card I could make a good PC(2gb ddr2, athlon fx 5400+, 450 watt power supply and a decent mobo) for under 400$ and I could sell the ram on Ebay :S. There goes my PS3 :(

Looks like that's what I'll be doing if I can't get this piece of... to work.
Thanks guys for all the help.

I don't know if you fixed it yet, but turn it on with no RAM in it, if it beeps then try some other RAM, if not then your mobo if prolly fried.

Best bet here is to remove all components except what you need to boot up. see if it starts. if it does then add in each component you removed one at a time until it doesn't start (and identify the part creating the problem).

if it doesn't work at that point try swapping out the remaining parts (cpu, vid card and memory) with others (old, known to work). if it still doesn't work you know it's the mobo.

Query: Did your computer beep when it came on before the RAM upgrade? (most do)
Does your computer beep with the new RAM installed?

If not there may be an incompatibility with the RAM. If it does beep, there is either a power problem with the Power Supply or the Motherboard itself.

I have also seen IDE cables cause the computer to not turn on properly. Unplug everything and see if you can get it to POST at all. If it does POST then replace the bad cable.

You could just need to replace the Motherboard in the end, but be warned if you replace that and want to keep your HDD and current OS you will have to do a trick to get it to boot. I have done this many times as I work in IT for small businesses.

2 possible solutions.

First and most likely, your 300 w PSU can't handle the additional ram.
Second, go to your bios and set the voltage of your ram to 2.0v. It should be on 1.8 or something now.

The pc you described isn't good and surely not worth giving up your ps3 for.

My first thought when I read your OP was PSU issues.

Before you build a completely new PC you could probably just buy a new PSU and test it out if it doesn't help then you still have a new PSU for your new PC.

To Each Man, Responsibility

I'm actually pretty sure it's my PSU since it's only 300W and I just noticed my video card needs 350W. Tigerdirect said 300W on their site!

Well just to let you guys know, it wasn't my Power Supply.

I just bought a 500W Power Supply and tried my 2 gigs, it didn't work. So here I am using only 756mb of ram just like before only now I'm 75$ poorer.
I will never buy non-Kingston memory ever again.

Is the RAM in at this time? And does it show u anything on the screen like the booting? And if you have the new memory in it may not be compatible with your hardware.
