This is just a speculation, obviously, but read this article from 2013. Miyamoto said:

"When it comes to games, I don’t see the need for Zelda in 4K but for Pikmin, making it 4K compatible could possibly further show more small detailed Pikmin moving around, show things from an even further perspective, and being able to see more may make a more fun game.”

Now, 3 years later, we know that Pikmin 4 is close, closer than ever. Miyamoto is the producer of Pikmin so he might want to create his vision of Pikmin 4K.

I don't understand your response honestly, I'm talking about Pikmin 4k resolution, not about miyamoto and his role or how many copies the game is going to sell.

I don't really care about the 4k aspect itself, but I really hope it supports 4k, because that would mean it was a competitively powerful system.

I don't care about 4k, I have no intention in buying a 4k TV in a loooong time XDD. I wouldn't mind if the console supports 4k though. I prefer it being cheaper and without 4k support, that's for sure.

I don't think they would go from 720p on the Wii U to 4K on the NX.
