Forums - Gaming - Gamestop Executive Says New Console Launches "Seem Imminent"

A few months ago (September last year I think) GameStop started selling PC cards.

wow lol, my regular GAME store has been selling Steam cards for years, to me that's the absolute barebones of promise and care towards how they see the platform, doesn't help that most game stores give you that tiny little coner or one shelf for the PC physical titles, I honestly don't think store like GAME or GS don't care about thae platform the way they do for consoles, I naturally expected them to shrug off the Vive and OR the way they had and will do so in the future.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Why shouldnt they? most pc gamers use steam, it gives them zero money and a lot physical pc games are tied to valves physical drm system. So ounce the key is registred on steam the disc cant be resold.

I think it will be revisions but more like PSP1000 to PSP2000. Nothing that groundbreaking. Smaller, more efficient, SSHD, more cache etc.

Even gamestop is saying that ps4k is real

4k movies or 4k games.  Personally I hope it's just 4k games and media.

I was referring to the fact that GS aren't giving two shits about any sort of progress or pushes on the platform because of them not being able to "command" a portion of that space and since they can't and like you said with then not making money from them that they will of course make mention of them but not show a damn, I find that onto itself rather hilarious.

For some reason, I always thought this gen was going to be shorter. And since VR requires a lot of power...

"the company plans to build substantial market share in VR hardware sales in the next few year."

Probably be like how they try and sell used tablets. They will just be reselling used VR units if anything.  Most PC gamers stopped going to Gamestop about a decade or so ago.

The same Kotaku rumor just keeps going:

Citing multiple anonymous developer sources, the report states that the primary difference between the so-called “PS4.5” and the current model would be an upgraded GPU. The more powerful hardware would allow developers to make games that run at 4K resolution.

Looking more like the jump from GB to GBC or 3DS to New 3DS. The same game console, and yet, not quite the same.

As an analogy, I would say we have sort of a "Family" Playstation, a "Genus" Playstation 4, and a "Species" Playstation 4K. In the seventh generation, every "Genus" had a single "Species", but that would no longer be the case, much like the aforementioned Gameboy and 3DS platforms.

So Kotaku is gamestops primary source of information to get prepared for new console launches?
